TERENGGANU BEAT SELANGOR IN SERDANG

Terengganu kicked start their new Agong's Cup campaign with a convincing win over Selangor at the UPM Rugby Field on Saturday. The 2014 finalist showed put up an excellent effort to record a deserving 26-9 win over Selangor.
 
Terengganu pumped the pressure on Selangor with an early penalty in the 4th minute. Mohd Fairuz Abd Rahman made no mistake to give his team the lead. Eight minutes later Timoci Saini broke Selangor defence for a try. Mohd Fairuz completed the conversion to give Terengganu a comfortable 10-0 lead.
 
​Selangor raised their game and started to compete against the well-organized opponent. Izwan Mohamad scored a penalty in the 19th minute to give his team a fighting chance. Terengganu regained the advantage from a penalty five minutes later, but Selangor staged a good catch-up with a double penalty before going into the break 9-13, just four points behind.
 
As the match resumed, Terengganu improved in all areas. Selangor ran out of ideas to overcome the confident opponents. Terengganu took two penalties, a try and a conversion, while Selangor had no answer to it. Terengganu held on strongly to win their opening match 26-9 and put themselves onto the right track in the hunt of Agong's Cup glory.
