ZETTERWALL CLAIM SECOND WIN AT CIPUTRA TOURNAMENT

Sweden's Oscar Zetterwall enjoyed the victorious feeling for the second time in four months when he pipped American Johannes Veerman in a play-off to win the US$100,000 Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament presented by Panasonic on Saturday. Zetterwall shrugged off Veerman's challenges by sinking a birdie at the first play-off hole to win his second Asian Development Tour (ADT) title event following his breakthrough in the Philippines in April. After missing out on his opportunity to earn his Asian Tour card at Qualifying School in January, the Swede was more determined to make amends by playing well on the ADT . His efforts paid off again but not after surviving several heart-stopping moments at the BSD course by Damai Indah Golf. Zetterwall then opened the door for Veerman when he double-bogeyed 14. LIGA SUPER: JOHOR DT 3 - FELDA UNITED 2 Johor Darul Takzim moved an inch closer for their third consecutive Malaysia Super League title in three years after defeating nearest rival, Felda United at Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka, yesterday. JDT led the night through Amri Yahyah goal in the 29th minutes while Martin Lucero doubled the score eight minutes later with a powerful shot. The Fighters didn't take long to get an equalizer after midfielder, Syahid Zaidon reducing the gap through a penalty in 37th minutes before Haidin Azman levelled the score with a brilliant move a minute before half time. Felda had to carry on 10 players after Nor Fazli Alias was sent-off in the 59th minute. The home fans were in shock after Aidil Zafuan struck the third goal for JDT in the 60th minutes. Felda United kept on pressing the game with a few attempt to the goal but JDT managed to defend and held it until the end.

KEYSER SEALS FIRST ADT VICTORY AT PGM MNRB SARAWAK CHAMPIONSHIP

Mathiam Keyser of South Africa edged Singapore's Quincy Quek by one shot to win his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) title at the PGM MNRB Sarawak Championship on Saturday. Keyser posted a fourth consecutive two-under-par 70 to win the RM200,000 (approximately US$46,600) ADT event with an eight-under-par 280 total at the Kelab Golf Sarawak. Quek, playing three groups in front of the leading flight, fought hard for a second ADT title before settling for second place following a 67. Overnight leader Panuwat Muenlek of Thailand missed out on a third ADT title and an Asian Tour card for the remainder of the 2016 season when he returned with a disappointing 76 to share fifth place. The 29-year-old Keyser enjoyed a hot start when he opened with two birdies before turning in 32. He marked his card with another birdie on 13 but wobbled towards the finishing line when he dropped three shots in the final four holes. LIGA PREMIER: MELAKA UNITED 3 – SABAH 0 At Hang Jebat Stadium, R.Surendren double plus a penalty by Montenegro hitman, Ilija Spasojevic put Melaka United comfort at the top of Premier League table. The Mousedeer's easily beat Sabah with 3-0 win and are in a strong position to win the Premier League title. Melaka open the scores through Ilija Spasojevic in the 37th minutes through a penalty while R. Surendran sealed the victory for the Mousedeer's with a double in 53rd and 57th minutes. Sabah fails to make an impact as Melaka Keep on pressing the game with a counter attack. Melaka United coach Mat Zan Mat Aris was delight with his boy's performance and hope they will keep the momentum up for an automatic promotion to Super League group next season. ​

LIGA PREMIER: SIME DARBY FC 5 – JDT II 2  JDT II suffered a Premier League humiliation after lost to Sime Darby FC with 5-2 score at Selayang Municipal Council Stadium last night. Shafiq Shahrudin took JDT II in front in the fifth minutes before Mohd Firdaus Azizul level up the score for Sime Darby twenty minutes later with a fine finish. Sime Darby reclaimed the lead after Obi Ikechukwu Charles slot the ball into the net a minute before half time. Obi Ikechukwu Charles extended the gap for the home side with his brilliant move for the third goal in the 48th minutes. JDT crawl back with Paulo Rangel goal two minutes later but Muhd Nazrul Kamaruzaman goal in 68th minutes put Sime Darby in comfort before Muhammad Rizqi Azman sealed the win confidently in 85th minutes. SOUTHERN TIGERS IN FOCUS FOR SUPER LEAGUE CROWN

LIGA SUPER: JOHOR DT 4 – PDRM 0 Johor Darul Takzim tightened their grips in retaining the Malaysia Super League crown after a huge win against PDRM at Larkin Stadium yesterday. Argentinian duo, Juan Martin Lucero and Jorge Pereyra Diaz netted two goals each and ensure JDT's winning streak continues. PDRM intensity hardly dropped in the second half after JDT plays good football with intensity and aggression. JUSTIN ROSE WINS THE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL IN RIO

It took 112 years for golf to find a new Olympic champion, but it was well worth the wait.  Great Britain's Justin Rose followed in the footsteps of the long-departed George Lyon of Canada when he climbed onto the podium to collect the Olympic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday. On a sun-drenched final day, in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,000 at Reserva de Marapendi Golf Course, Rose added the Olympic crown to his 2013 US Open title after a prolonged and exciting battle down the stretch with Sweden's Henrik Stenson. In the end, the packed grandstand which turned the 18th arena into a noisy sporting amphitheatre, watched spellbound as Rose got up-and-down from the side of the green for the birdie which sealed a worthy gold medal performance. MALAYSIA CUP: JOHOR DT 4 - PDRM 1 Struggling Johor Darul Takzim makes an audacious comeback in Malaysia Cup competition by beating PDRM with 4-1 score at Larkin Stadium, yesterday. The second leg of Malaysia Cup group stage match saw Amri Yahyah and Nazrin Nawi hit with a double to secure the win. Striker, Amri Yahyah took the Southern Tigers into the lead with two superb shot in the 23rd and 29th minutes. Guilherme De Paula reducing the deficit for Police with a stunning kicks a minute before halftime. While PDRM still searching for an equalizer, JDT's Kelantan born midfielder, Nazrin Nawi nailed the games with two brilliant shot in the 52nd and 60th minutes. FELDA UNITED KEEP QUARTERFINALS CHANCES ALIVE

​PIALA MALAYSIA: FELDA UNITED 2 - MELAKA UNITED 1  Melaka United slumped to their second consecutive defeat in the 2016 Malaysia Cup competition against Felda United last night. The second round of group stage match was held at Tun Abdul Razak Stadium saw Forkey Doe netted twice within ten minutes to seal the victory. Melaka United replied through Nurshamil in the 10th minutes. Felda only need to get a draw result from the last two match to enter to the next level. As for Melaka, the hope of entering to the next level looks gloom after Negeri Sembilan notch up another three important point against Terengganu yesterday.       ​

PIALA MALAYSIA: SELANGOR 3 - PAHANG 0 It was a huge relief for K. Gunalan and Selangor fans after the Red Giants finally found their winning touch by defeating Pahang FC 3-0 in Shah Alam last night. Patrick Ronaldinho was the star of the night as he scored his first hattrick in the Malaysia Cup this year. Selangor opened the scoring in the 37th minute after Andik Vermansyah was brought down in the penalty box by Matthew Davies. Ronaldinho calmly took the spot kick to beat Helmi Eliza. Pahang could not deny the Red Giants home advantage, the played a solid game and dominated the match very well. Ronaldinho found the net again in the 66th minute after receiving a good pass from R. Gopinathan. However, it was not over yet for Selangor until Ronaldinho completed his hattrick from Adam Norazlin assist in the 80th minute.

KEDAH MOVE A STEP CLOSER TO LAST EIGHT

PIALA MALAYSIA: JDT II 2 - KEDAH 3 Kedah showed their strength in the 2016 Malaysia Cup competition after edging JDT II with 3-2 win at Pasir Gudang Municipal Council Stadium on Tuesday. Baddrol Bakhtiar was the saviour for Kedah after the Red Eagles midfielder brilliantly netted the winning goal in 56th minutes. Kedah open the gap through Shane Smeltz in 13th minutes before Paulo Rangel hit with an equalizer for JDT II in 36th minutes. Syazwan Zainon put Kedah back to the lead a minute later before Zaquan Adha level up the score a minute before half time. With two matches to spare, Kedah now leading the Group A standings with 10points while JDT II remain in third with three points.

TERENGGANU IS THE NEW NATIONAL SEVENS CHAMPION

MALAYSIA NATIONAL SEVENS CHAMPIONSHIP (FINAL) TERENGGANU 12 - KELANTAN 7 Terengganu won the Malaysia's National Sevens Championship for the first time after beating Kelantan 12-7 in the final match at Gong Badak Sports Complex yesterday. The home team showed determination from the start and scored two tries and a conversion in the first half.  Kelantan fought back in the second half but can only managed to score a try and a conversion. Terengganu held on until the final whistle to lift the Ung Khek Chow trophy for the first time. Perak took the third place after defeating Sabah 27-12 in the 3rd/4th placing match. In the Under-19 category, Kelantan claimed the Milo Cup after winning 29-15 over Kuala Lumpur the final.  ​

HOME FAVOURITE BAYRON WINS SECOND ABOITIZ INVITATIONAL TITLE

Local stalwart Jay Bayron delighted the home crowd when he closed with a two-under-par 70 to win by two shots for his second Aboitiz Invitational title as well as his fourth Asian Development Tour (ADT) win on Saturday. Bayron, who won the tournament when it was inaugurated in 2011, fired four birdies against two bogeys to tame the notorious Wack Wack Golf and Country Club's East course with a winning total of six-under-par 282 in the US$100,000 ADT event. Olympic-bound Gavin Green signed for a 69 to settle for second place while Thailand's Rattanon Wannasrichan came in one shot back in third following a similar 69 in what is the 18th leg of the ADT schedule this season. Indonesia's George Gandranata (70) finished in fourth place with Asian Tour regular Antonio Lascuna (71) of the Philippines on 286 while overnight leader Nicolas Paez of the United States slipped to tied-sixth place on 288 following a disappointing 77. LIGA SUPER: PULAU PINANG 1 - JDT 1 Penang fought back from a goal down to earn a dramatic draw against JDT with 1-1 score at City Stadium last night. Jorge Diaz put the visitors ahead in 11th minutes after receiving a cross from Azamuddin Akil. Four minutes later, a glancing header from Reinaldo Lobo's almost put Penang for an equalizer but the ball is just an inches away over the crossbar. Trailing with one goal down in second half, Penang finally had an equalizer through Mohd Fitri Omar beautiful strike in the 60th minutes. Bojan Hodak was pull of praises with the team after collecting seven points from three match played. ​
