DANTHAI BOONMA WINS BOONCHU RUANGKIT CHAMPIONSHIP IN PLAY-OFF

Thai hotshot Danthai Boonma held off a battling compatriot Jazz Janewattananond on the fourth play-off hole to win his first Asian Development Tour (ADT) title at the Boonchu Ruangkit Championship on Sunday. Danthai, a one-time Asian Tour winner, matched his opening efforts of a six-under-par 65 to end his campaign tied on 15-under-par 269 alongside Jazz (64) before the title was decided in extra time on the par-four 18th hole at the Rancho Charnvee Resorts and Country Club. The leading duo shot matching pars on the first two play-off holes and birdied the third before Danthai prevailed over Jazz with a par against a bogey on the fourth extra hole at the 3,500,000 Baht (approx. US$100,114) event, final leg of the 2016 ADT schedule. HAZWAN BAKRI IS MALAYSIA'S BEST FOOTBALLER FOR 2016

Ahmad Hazwan Bakri of Selangor bagged two awards at the Malaysia Football Award 2016, as Best Striker and Most Valuable Player. Johor DT's, Safiq Rahim claimed his fourth Best Midfielder award and Kedah's Rizal Ghazali was named as Best Defender. Khairul Fahmi Che Mat of Kelantan created history by winning his fifth Best Goalkeeper award. Kedah's coach, Tan Cheng Hoe also bagged the Best Coach award after guiding his team to Malaysia Cup success this year. The event also saw Mohd Faiz Subri of Penang receiving Special Appreciation Award for his goal nomination for FIFA Puskas Award 2016. SCOTT HEND NAMED ASIAN TOUR PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2016

Scott Hend has added another feather in the cap by winning the Asian Tour Players' Player of the Year award. Following a stellar 2016 campaign where he was crowned as the Asian Tour's Order of Merit champion with earnings of US$1.004 million, the 43-year-old was recognised by his peers as the top performer on the region's premier Tour through a voting process. Zimbabwean Scott Vincent was named Rookie of the Year after finishing 28th on the final Order of Merit with US$136,812, thanks to two top-10s including a runner-up finish at the Shinhan Donghae Open in Korea. HONG KONG CAPTURE ASIA RUGBY UNDER 19 TITLE

ASIA RUGBY UNDER 19 CHAMPIONSHIP MALAYSIA 10 - HONG KONG 67 CHINESE TAIPEI 61 - SRI LANKA 0 Hong Kong clinched the Asia Rugby U19 Championship after beating Malaysia 67-10 in their last match. The win sent Hong Kong to join Japan, into World Rugby Junior Trophy 2017 in Uruguay, where both teams will be pushing for promotion to the Junior World Championship . Hong Kong got off with a strong start in Malaysia with 54-8 win over Chinese Taipei, and 61-0 over Sri Lanka. In another match on the last day of the championship, Chinese Taipei defeated  Sri Lanka 31-25 to claim their first victory after two losses. Chinese Taipei finished 2nd, Sri Lanka 3rd place and hosts, Malaysia 4th. It was a very tight affair for second place after all 3 teams secured at least a solitary win from three matches played.

TIGERS BEAT SARACENS TO TAKE SUPER SERIES TITLE

KL SUPER SERIES (RESULTS) KL SARACENS 0 - KL TIGERS 18 RSC 12 - COBRA 45 KL Tigers won the inaugural KL Super Series Rugby after winning their third and final match. The Tigers beat KL Saracens 18-0 in at Royal Selangor Club last Saturday. Saracens took the second place after good runs in their first two matches. In earlier match, Cobra secured the third place after beating RSC 45-12. The KL Super Series involves four great clubs over the last three weekends.

SAM BRAZEL WINS UBS HONG KONG OPEN

Australian Sam Brazel enjoyed a life-changing victory at the season-ending UBS Hong Kong Open on Sunday, sinking an eight-foot birdie on the last hole for a dramatic win. The 37-year-old Brazel showed nerves of steel under pressure to fire a final round of two-under-par 68 and lift his maiden Asian Tour title by one stroke with an aggregate of 13-under-par 267 at the Hong Kong Golf Club. Brazel, who earned US$330,330 and finished seventh on the final Asian Tour Order of Merit, pipped playing partner and Ryder Cup star Rafa Cabrera Bello , who missed a long birdie attempt at the closing hole in the US$2 million tournament sanctioned by the Asian Tour, European Tour and Hong Kong Golf Association. Andrew Dodt of Australia and England's Tommy Fleetwood , who were in the thick of battle on a glorious Sunday afternoon, shared third place on 269 after a 68 and 66 respectively while Malaysia's Danny Chia emerged as the top Asian in tied eighth place after a closing 67.

KUMAR BECOMES OLDEST WINNER ON TOUR WITH PANASONIC OPEN INDIA TRIUMPH

Local veteran Mukesh Kumar completed a wire-to-wire victory at the weather-shortened Panasonic Open India to claim his first Asian Tour title by one shot on Sunday. Kumar, who had a two-shot advantage heading into the third and final round, closed with a two-under-par 70 for a winning total of 10-under-par 206 at the US$400,000 Asian Tour event, which was earlier reduced to 54 holes due to fog disruptions. Kumar's victory, worth US$72,000, made him the oldest winner on the Asian Tour at the age of 51 years and 126 days. Indian duo Jyoti Randhawa and Rashid Khan closed with matching 68s to share second place at the venerable Delhi Golf Club. Mithun Perera of Sri Lanka capped his third consecutive top-five finish at the Panasonic Open India after signing for a 70 to take fourth place on 208. BORNEO EAGLES WIN COBRA 10'S

Borneo Eagles beat Cobra 19-0 in the cup final to claim victory at the Cobra 10's International Rugby tournament. The victory came after a good performance by East Malaysian club from the start of the tournament. Last year's winner, KSDBKL came out as plate champions after defeating Singapore Barbarians in the final. Panthers Blowpipes took the bowl title as they overcame Duka Old Boys in their final match.  Cobra 10's in one of the oldest tournament in the country, and also one of the biggest international rugby 10's tournament in Asia. Teams from Malaysia, England, South Africa, Singapore and New Zealand had taken part in this year's edition. SILVER GAURUS CLAIM TAIPING 10'S TITLE

Silver Gaurus won the Taiping 10's Rugby Tournament after an impressive 25-12 victory over Cobra in the Cup final match. The Perak based club took the title despite a second half comeback attempt by the last year finalist, Cobra. Sementerian claimed the Plate title after defeating Langkawi Eagles 29-7 in the final. GP Habanero won the Bowl final 12-0 over Northern Wanderers . Sixteen rugby clubs from all over the country took part in the annual Taiping 10's Rugby Tournament organised by the Old Edwardian Rugby Club. KEDAH BEAT SELANGOR TO WIN THE MALAYSIA CUP

PIALA MALAYSIA FINAL KEDAH 1 - SELANGOR 1 *Kedah win 6-5 after penalty shoot-outs Kedah won their fifth Malaysia Cup after beating Selangor 6-5 in penalties. Both team were tied 1-1 after 90 minutes. Rizal Ghazali opened accounts and then closed the accounts with the winning penalty as Kedah dethroned defending champions Selangor at the Shah Alam Stadium. Fittingly, Rizal was named Man of the Match in the final which was watched by more than 80,000 supporters. Rizal opened the scoring for Kedah in the 52nd minute when his strike took a deflection off S. Veenod and the ball looped into the Selangor net past a confused Khalid Azhan in goal. SHANSHAN FENG CLAIMS SIME DARBY LPGA MALAYSIA TITLE

Shanshan Feng is no stranger to the winner's circle as this is her fifth win on the LPGA Tour and first since winning the 2014 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia . Feng from China shot a final round 67 to grab her first victory of 2016 season as she defeated Suzann Pettersen by three-strokes. Feng started the day with a bogey on the first hole but recovered nicely with birdies on two of her first five holes, finishing out the round with three birdies on the back nine. The eventual winner started the day with a two-shot lead after a 64 in the third round. Feng has been one of the LPGA's hottest players of late, with top-4 finishes in each of her last four starts. JOHOR DT - THE UNBEATEN LEAGUE CHAMPION

LIGA SUPER: SELANGOR 1 - JOHOR DT 2 Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) created another record in the Malaysia Super League (MSL) after Amri Yahyah 's 77th-minute strike helped them beat Selangor 2-1, as they became the only team that complete a season unbeaten in the domestic league's history. At Shah Alam Stadium, Argentine striker Jorge Pereyra Diaz gave JDT the lead after 64 minutes to become the league's top scorer with 18 goals, and almost secure his side's unbeaten status on the domestic front. Justin Thomas won his second CIMB Classic title at TPC Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Thomas finished at 23-under-par 265, three shots ahead of closest rival Hideki Matsuyama of Japan. Overnight leader Anirban Lahiri, who led the field by four shots into the final round, lost ground after a quadruple bogey on the third hole. Anirban finished tied with Derek Fathauer for third place at 19 under par. Laid in fifth is Marc Leishman (66) who finished one shot away from Lahiri and Fathauer while Keegan Bradley (68) one spot below him at 16-under. Last year's champions, Labuan Marlin finished third best team as they overcame SDRU Sibu 10 – 0 in the 3rd/4th placing match. KK Sharks grabbed the Plate category after winning over Blackhawks 28–7. VRC Storm beat Sipitang Hunters 10-0 to take the Bowl category. MELAKA UNITED CELEBRATE PREMIER LEAGUE SUCCESS

LIGA PREMIER: MELAKA UNITED 1 - SIME DARBY 1 Melaka United were officially crowned as the 2016 Malaysia Premier League champions after a 1-1 draw with league bottomers Sime Darby in their last league match here last night. Playing in front of 35,000 crowds at the Hang Jebat Stadium, Melaka United controlled most of the match but they were not in the mood for a big win. It was Sime Darby who opened scoring in the 79th minute through Mateo Roskam after several close attempts by both sides. Melaka United were awarded a free kick in the 91st minute when captain Spasojevic was brought down in Sime's half and Mohd Saiful Mustafa smacked it to the top left corner to beat goalkeeper Mohamad Redzuan Harun for the equaliser. After the match, Melaka United were officially presented the Premier League trophy by Yang diPertua Negeri Melaka, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob.

KEDAH HOLD PDRM TO TAKE FINAL SPOT

PIALA MALAYSIA - SEMIFINALS (SECOND LEG) PDRM 0 - KEDAH 0 *Kedah qualified with 2-1 aggregate. Kedah qualified to the Malaysia Cup final again after holding PDRM to goalless draw at the Hang Jebat Stadium. The Red Eagles survived with 2-1 aggregate. Kedah squandered several chances, but to coach Tan Cheng Hoe's relief, were not made to pay by Police. Kedah twice hit the crossbar through Thiago Augusto Fernandes and Shane Smeltz in the first half, while Police goalkeeper Hamdan Sairi came to his side's rescue several times. Baddrol Bakhtiar , with a free-kick which Hamdan pushed away, and then with a header which just cleared the bar, also came close to breaking the deadlock for Kedah. NS Wanderers came out as champions of the UPNM 10s after defeating Blackhawks in the final. Blackhawks put a strong performance to take a 7-0 lead, but NS Wanderers bounced back to win the Cup Final. Serdang Angels beat JLJ Diraja to take the third place finishing. In the IPT category Cup Final, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) thrashed Universiti Pertahanan Nasional (UPNM) A 29-7 in to take the title. The national project team took full advantage of their powerful line-ups to deny the hope of the home team. In another match, Universiti Malaya (UM) defeated Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to claim the third place in the IPT category. KSDBKL RETAIN INTERNATIONAL NS ROYAL 7s TITLE

KSDBKL succesfully retained their International NS Royal Sevens title after edging Iskandar Raiders 24-21 in the final. Led by Nik Safuan Ismade Mik Man, KSDBKL showed incredible performances throughout the tournament held in Seremban last Sunday. They beat all opponents at the group stage, and maintained their unbeaten run until the final. Iskandar Raiders had a bit of opportunity as they got a good run towards the final. However KSDBKL are too experienced to walk away with the championship again. In the school category, SSTMI clinched the title after beating KGV in the final.

PERAK LIFT THE AGONGS CUP AFTER A DRAMATIC WIN

PIALA AGONG: PERAK 17 - JOHOR 14 Perak lifted the Agong's Cup for the first time after beating Johor 17-14 in the final at Sandakan, on Sunday night. Wan Mohd Asraf sent Johor six points clear with two penalties in the 8th and 19th minute. Vaovasa Afa made the first try in the 32nd minute to give Johor 11 points advantage. Perak's number eight, Veniona broke the duck after making a try in the second half. Aamir Aswad scored the conversion to keep Perak's title dream alive. Perak pressed Johor to the end. Aamir Aswad beat two Johor players for another try. Mohd Faizal made no mistake for the conversion and both teams were tied 14-14 in regulation time. Four minutes into the added time, Aamir Aswad turned hero for Perak as he scored the winner through a penalty. It is the sweetest victory for Perak who finished runners-up in 2015.

KEDAH SECURED ONE GOAL ADVANTAGE

​PIALA MALAYSIA: KEDAH 2 - PDRM 1 Kedah won their Malaysia Cup semifinal first leg after the referee awarded three penalties in the match. The home side were awarded a penalty kick after Brazilian Thiago Fernandes was fouled inside the PDRM's penalty box. Fernandes calmly placed his penalty past PDRM goalkeeper Haziq Nadzi for the lead. Two minutes later, PDRM were awarded a penalty after Kedah defender Bang Seung Hwan took down winger Christopher Keli with a clumsy tackle. Brazilian Guilherme De Paula had to retake his penalty but the striker did not make a mistake from his second attempt to level for the visitors. In the 80th minute, Kedah were awarded another penalty after Fernandes was fouled by PDRM keeper Haziq. Midfielder Liridon Krasniqi placed the ball into the left corner of the next to earn Kedah the win. PDRM will host Kedah in the return leg on Oct 15 at Hang Jebat Stadium.

BENGALURU GIVE JDT TOUGH MISSION IN SECOND LEG

AFC CUP SEMIFINALS (FIRST LEG) JOHOR DT 1 - BEGALURU 1 Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) were held by Bengaluru FC to a 1-1 draw. The visitor picked a crucial away goal in the first leg of the AFC Cup semifinals. JDT should have taken a 27th minute lead through Juan Martin Lucero. The Argentine did everything right with a firm header that was destined for the far corner, but Bengaluru goalkeeper Amrinder Singh pulled off a miraculous stop to claw the forward's effort away. Seven minutes after the break, JDT went in front as the visitors' 23-year-old keeper was finally beaten. Jorge Pereyra Diaz , who had been relatively quiet until then, rose unmarked to power home a Safiq Rahim corner for his sixth goal of the competition. PIALA AGONG QUARTERFINAL TERENGGANU 27 - ATM 8 Terengganu displayed an impressive performance in their Agong's Cup quarterfinal match to secure a place in the last four stage. The rising east coast side who beat Perlis and Selangor in their Group B matches did not choke against the hard fighting ATM at UPM Rugby Field. ATM did not give it easy for Terengganu. They lead the 8-7 after the first half. However, Terengganu showed their true character after the break. They powered through to the end with 20 points to give the a deserving 27-8 victory over ATM. It will be their second consecutive Agong's Cup semifinal on 30th September.
