Top seed David Ferrer enjoyed a confidence boosting start to his Malaysian Open , Kuala Lumpur 2013 campaign as he cruised past Italian qualifier Matteo Viola 6-2, 6-3 in 73 minutes here at Centre Court of Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil to move into the quarterfinals. The 31-year-old Ferrer, who made the semifinals of this tournament in 2010 and 2012, started off sharp and played an aggressive baseline game against Viola, running the Italian all around the court. Viola (world No. 140), who made it into the second round courtesy of a kind first round draw against a fellow qualifier, put up a brave fight with some beautiful winners towards the end of the second set, but the 26-year-old never posed much of a challenge to the world No. 4 Spaniard.
