MIGUEL CARBALLO SEALS CIPUTRA GOLFPRENEUR TITLE IN PLAY-OFF

Miguel Carballo of Argentina secured his maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) title in style after prevailing in an epic play-off battle that stretched over seven holes at the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament presented by Panasonic on Saturday. The 39-year-old Carballo, playing in his first year in Asia after coming through the Qualifying School in January, overturned a six-shot deficit by carding eight birdies against no bogey for a closing eight-under-par 64 at the BSD Course by Damai Indah Golf . Young guns Amir Nazrin of Malaysia and Poom Pattaropong of Thailand returned with respective rounds of 65 and 68 to force the sudden-death play-off with Carballo after the trio was tied on 16-under-par 272 total in regulation play at the US$110,000 ADT event. HOME HERO CHAN SECURES SIXTH ADT WIN AT TAIFONG OPEN

Chinese Taipei's  Chan Shih-chang  clinched his sixth  Asian Development Tour  (ADT) title at the  Taifong Open  on Sunday to equal the record of most  ADT  wins. The 32-year-old Chan carded a bogey-free four-under-par 68 to triumph by two shots, with a winning total of 13-under-par 275 at the  Taifong Golf Course . He and close friend  Pavit Tangkamolprasert  of Thailand, now hold the joint record for the most number of wins on the ADT. Thailand’s  Chinnarat Phadungsil  and  Han Lee  of the United States settled for second place after signing for matching 66s at the US$160,000 ADT event.   Wearing his lucky polka-dot shirt, Chan won the Taifong Open for the third time in his career. In 2010, he won the event on the local circuit and was victorious again in 2014 when the tournament was sanctioned by the ADT. SHAHRIFFUDIN BAGS LABUAN CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A LATE COMEBACK

Malaysia’s Shahriffudin Ariffin staged a late comeback by powering home with a final round three-under-par 69 to win his maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) title by two shots at the PGM Labuan Championship on Saturday. Shahriffudin started the day two shots back of overnight leader Rizal Amin in third position at the Labuan International Golf Club but stormed with home with an eagle and two birdies in his last five holes to win the RM225,000 (approximately US$58,000) ADT event with his four-day total of seven-under-par 281. Nicholas Fung , a one-time Asian Tour winner, signed off with a 69 to take second place while Rizal had a day to forget when he mixed his card with four bogeys and two birdies to end the week in third place. The 18-year-old did not think much of his chances after he dropped a shot on the fifth hole and could not get any birdies in his outward nine. AUSTRALIA DOMINATE FIT YOUTH TOUCH WORLD CUP WITH SIX GOLDS

Australia  dominated the 2018  FIT Youth Touch World Cup  in Putrajaya by winning six golds from all categories.  New Zealand  came second overall, followed by  South Africa  after playing at the four days tournament hosted by  Malaysia . Nine countries competed in the third edition of the championship. Australia won all the U20 finals. Their Mens team beat New Zealand 9-5 in the final. The Womens team also hammered New Zealand 13-1, and the Mixed team secured another gold after a 9-6 victory in the finals. In the U18 category, the Australians grabbed all gold at stake. Their Boys team defeated New Zealand boys 12-7 in the final. The Girls clinched the gold after a 11-3 win over New Zealand, and the Mixed team edged New Zealand 10-8 in the finals. The FIT Youth Touch World Cup was back after 13 years. Malaysia was chosen to host the tournament where 28 teams from 9 countries had taken part. HONG KONG AND CHINA SECURE ASIA RUGBY U20 SEVENS TITLES

Hong Kong 's Mens bagged the Asia Rugby U20 Sevens for the fifth time after a 5-0 victory over South Korea in the final. South Korea did not went down easily as they held the host until Liam Doherty scored a late try right before the end. Hong Kong's Mens had an excellent run over the two days at Kings Park . They stayed unbeaten and topped their group before defeating Singapore 19-0 in the semifinals, to set up the the final showdown against South Korea. The home side conceded just one try against South Korea during their group match which they won 19-5. South Korea's Mens threw everything they had to stop them in the final, but they controlled the pressure brilliantly. China won the Women category after thrashing Hong Kong 33-0 in the final. The Chinese womens were in a different class as dominated the tournament from the start. In the final, they scored five tries to nothing and retain the title which they have won last year. BLACKHAWKS WIN KL RUGBY LEAGUE AFTER BEATING KOBOYS IN FINAL

Blackhawks JR beat Koboys 31-12 in the Cup Final to become the Champions of the Kuala Lumpur Rugby League 2018. The Air Force team displayed solid performance to dominate the match at Bellamy Rugby Field on Saturday. Blackhawks who won KL Division II last year showed consistency throughout the season before reaching the final. They topped Group A without losing a single match to set-up a the final showdown against Group B winner, Koboys. The win saw them maintain their unbeaten run in the Kuala Lumpur Rugby League this season. Unisel Awesome beat Mobster RC 39-14 in the Plate Final . After finishing second to Blackhawks in the group stage, the Universiti Selangor team played all-out to claim the Plate title. The President of Kuala Lumpur Rugby, Datuk Zainal Rafique was present to watch the finals and gave out all the prizes to the winners. UAE EARN PROMOTION WITH ASIA RUGBY SEVENS TROPHY VICTORY

United Arab Emirates  (UAE) claimed the  Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy  after defeating  Singapore  in Cup Final.  Apollo Perelini 's players showed class as they beat the tournament host 14-0 to earn a promotion to the top tier of the Asian Sevens Series. UAE  got their first try through  Natuna  after four minutes into the game.  Vito Tuivione  scored the conversion to give his team a 7-0 lead. Singapore did not give up but UAE had the physical advantage. The west Asian side got their tactics working as Tuivione made another try and delivered the conversion right before the break. The Republic gave a good fight in the second half but poor decisions held them back. UAE had earlier beaten  Nepal  48-0,  Indonesia  45-5 and  Jordan  36-5 to top their group at the  Queenstown Stadium  on Saturday, before overcoming  Thailand  26-0 in the semifinals. PERAK HELD BY FELCRA AT HOME

Perak  failed to use the advantage of playing on their home ground after being held to a goalless draw by  Felcra FC . The  Bos Gaurus  did everything except scoring in a  Malaysia Cup  match at the Perak Stadium. The home side pressured Felcra from the start but  Gilmar Jose  Da Silva ,  Jad Noureddine  and  Mohd Nor Hakim Hassan  failed to convert their chances. Felcra had some chances but were not good enough to break Perak. Perak continued their domination in the second half. Felcra played defensively for most of the match. Ten minutes before the end, Felcra were reduced to 10 men after  Fandi Othman  was sent-off for second yellow card. Despite having the extra-men advantage, Perak still could not find the net.

PKNS BEAT SECOND PLACE PERAK TO FINISH THIRD IN LIGA SUPER

Perak completed their Liga Super 2018 campaign with a creditable second place finish despite losing to PKNS in their last match. The Red Ants stunned them with a 4-1 victory at the Shah Alam Stadium to finish third. Bruno Matos gave the hosts an early lead after just two minutes into the game. However, Gilmar da Silva equalised for the Perak nine minutes later. PKNS went ahead again in the 39th minute through Rafael Ramazotti 's goal and grab the half time advantage. After the break, Perak could not find an answer against the confident home side. Matos found the net again in the 78th minute before Romel Morales sealed the victory in the injury time. Though, the Bos Gaurus were lucky as the two teams with the chance to overtake them also stumbled at the final hurdle.
