WALES DENY AUSTRALIA COMEBACK TO CLAIM CRUCIAL WIN

Image
Wales put themselves as title contenders with one foot in the World Cup quarterfinals after stunning Australia 29-25 at Tokyo Stadium. The second successive win took the Six Nations champions to the top of Pool D which could lead them to a last-eight clash against France or Argentina . Australia, though, might be hurtling towards a knockout tie with England , who are coached by former Wallabies boss Eddie Jones , despite staging a spectacular second-half fightback. Wales looked home and dry when they led 26-8 through tries by centre Hadleigh Parkes and scrum-half Gareth Davies . Fly-halves Dan Biggar and Rhys Patchell kicked 19 points between them - Patchell contributed 14 after replacing Biggar, who went off for a head injury assessment - but Australia got it back to one point at 26-25. Patchell penalty in the last ten minutes sealed Wales first RWC victory over Australia since 1987. Get Sports Updates!

URUGUAY STUN FIJI AT RUGBY WORLD CUP

Image
The 2019 Rugby World Cup delivered its first major shock as minnows Uruguay held on for a historic 30-27 victory over Fiji . Uruguay had not won a World Cup match since beating Georgia in 2003 and tears flowed after the referee blew the final whistle, sparking huge celebrations from the winning camp. No one had expected this result. The last time these two teams faced each other Fiji stormed to a comfortable 68-7 victory but it was a different story in the Kamaishi Recovery Memorial Stadium , a venue built in memory of those killed in the 2011 tsunami. It was the biggest score Uruguay has ever recorded in a World Cup game and it was well worthy of the win against a Fiji side who failed to impress. The game started at a hurtling pace with both sides registering an early try but it was Uruguay that emerged as the surprise 24-12 leaders at halftime. Scores from Juan Manuel Cat , Manuel Diana and Santiago Arata punished a sloppy Fijian outfit that wasted a number of opport

MANU TUILAGI STARS AS ENGLAND BEAT TONGA

Image
England bagged their first win in the 2019 Rugby World Cup by defeating Tonga with a 35-3 victory. It is England's third win over Tonga in Rugby World Cup history. Manu Tuilagi plundered two first-half tries at the Sapporo Dome after repeatedly forcing a path through the Islanders' defence to emerge as the otherwise ragged 2003 champions' most potent threat. Jamie George and Luke Cowan-Dickie got another two tries in the second half. Owen Farrell made six successful kicks to deliver 15 points for the lions. Tonga got their only points through Sonatane Takulua 's penalty in the 14th minute. The match ended with Tonga pouring forward in search of a deserved try and they will be emboldened by their success in frustrating England's strongest available side. RUGBY FOR ALL

Tommaso scored all three conversions before the break. Italy came back after the break with more fire. Edoardo Padovani , Carlo Canna , Jake Polledri and Matteo Minozzi tries put them closer to the quarterfinals. Cliven Loubser scored a late try for Namibia but was not enough to deny the Italians. Namibia's record streak of Rugby World Cup games without a win (or draw) is now 20. UNSTOPPABLE ALL BLACKS SEND WARNING WITH WIN OVER SOUTH AFRICA

Image
All Blacks  fired an ominous warning of their grim focus to secure a record third-straight  World Cup  crown by grinding past  South Africa .  New Zealand  are the only country never to have lost a group stage match at the RWC, winning all 29 they have played. Scott Barrett  scored his fourth test try and his third against South Africa.  George Bridge  has scored six tries in his last three matches and is on a total of eight in his first six test appearances.  Handre Pollard  kicked South Africa's 16th drop goal in RWC history. South Africa have now lost their opener at two consecutive World Cups. In 2015, they lost against  Japan  but managed to take two bonus points. With a margin of 10 points, this is South Africa's biggest Rugby World Cup defeat since they lost to New Zealand 29-9 in the 2003 quarter-finals. Follow  Tigers Super Sports  for more  Rugby Updates

JAPAN DEFEATS RUSSIA ON RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019 OPENING NIGHT

Image
Japan overcame a nightmare start to its own Rugby World Cup to clinch a 30-10 victory over Russia in the tournament's opening game Friday. After not winning any of their opening matches in their first seven World Cup participations, Japan have now won their opener in each of their last two. The Brave Blossoms won after trailing by seven points. A fifth-minute try by Russia was the fastest in the opening match of a Rugby World Cup. Kotaro Matsushima became the first player to score a hat-trick of tries for Japan in a World Cup match. He also became the first to score three tries in a World Cup opener. Japan's starting front row made 32 tackles without missing a single one. Luke Thompson joined centre Yukio Motoki as the only players to have represented Japan in four different World Cups. Five Japanese players covered more than 50 metres, while no Russian player gained 50 metres in the match. Click Here for more RUGBY NEWS
