GREAT START FOR JIMENEZ IN CHAMPIONS TOUR

​Miguel Angel Jimenez rallied to win the Champions Tour 's season-opening Mitsubishi Electric Championship , birdieing six of the final nine holes Sunday for a 1-stroke victory over Mark O'Meara. The Spaniard closed with a 6-under 66 for his second victory in three career starts on the 50-and-over tour. He broke a tie with O'Meara with a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-3 17th. Jimenez won the Greater Gwinnett Championship last year, a week after finishing fourth in the Masters. In his other Champions Tour start, he tied for eighth in the Senior British Open in July. In May, he won the Spanish Open at 50 years, 133 days to break his own record as the oldest European Tour champion. Jimenez finished at 17-under 199 at Hualalai Golf Club . He played the 12 par 5s in 12 under with an eagle and 10 birdies. After making two birdies and a double bogey on the front nine, he birdied Nos. 10, 11, 13-15 and 17 and closed with a two-putt par. KSDBKL FALLS TO KERIS CONLAY

​​MRSL: KERIS CONLAY 33 - KSDBKL 16 Keris Conlay overcame the threats from KSDBKL to win their first match 33-16 at UPM field, on Sunday. Keris Conlay took an early lead in ninth minutes from penalty taken by Mohd Fairuz Abdul Rahman while Mohd Firdaus Abdul Manan stretching the gap in 19th minutes with a try followed by conversion taken by Mohd Fairuz a minute later. While KSDBKL still looking for the tempo, Keris Conlay keep on putting the pressure and has extend the lead with a try from Muhammad Zhafir Md Fauzi followed by a conversion from Mohd Fairuz in 25th minutes. ​ ​​KSDBKL manage to break the solid defense of Keris Conlay and Tora Vatiliai Tuisabeto collected three points for the team with a penalty in 35th minutes. LIONS TEAR BLACKHAWKS IN SERDANG

MRSL: UITM LIONS 37 - RMAF BLACKHAWKS 10 UiTM Lions was in complete control of the match against RMAF Blackhawks before recording an impressive 37-10 win. Blackhawks struggled throughout the match against the speedy Lions at the UPM Rugby field on Sunday. UiTM took the lead in the 13th minutes from a try by Anwarul Hafiz Ahmad and converted the score to seven points. Blackhawks tried to bounce back, but they conceded a penalty six minutes later. Anwarul stretched Lions lead to 10-0. Blackhawks finally broke their duck in the 24th minute when Azizan Abdul scored a penalty. Though, the Lions remained a dangerous threat. Ammar Mohd Tahir got another try for UiTM in the 26th minutes. The second half started in a similar fashion. Mohamad Safwan Abdullah tried for Lions just one minute after the match resumed. COBRA COMES FROM BEHIND TO BEAT ASAS RC

MRSL: COBRA 13 - ASAS RC 6 Cobra continued their good run by picking up another win over ASAS RC in the Malaysian Rugby Super League match at UPM yesterday. However, they had to wait until the second half to break the strong ASAS defence. ASAS took the lead in the 17th minute when Mohamad Zharif Md Amir made no mistake from the penalty spot. Cobra failed to find the points they needed.  ​ASAS made it more difficult for the Cobras as they scored another penalty just after three minutes into the second half. Cobra doubled their efforts and went more offensive after been 0-6 down. They finally managed to get a try in the 59th minute through Muhd Faiz Haikal Ishak . And ASAS looked a little shaken after the try.  Cobra took the lead in the 73rd minute after been awarded a penalty. V atimio Rabebe took it perfectly and Cobra was back at their best. JIMMY WALKER WINS SONY OPEN BY 9 STROKES

Jimmy Walker won the Sony Open for the second year in a row with a nine-shot victory at the Waialae Country Club . The 36-year-old American, who took a two-stroke advantage into the final day, stretched clear with a seven-under 63 to finish on 23 under par. Compatriot Scott Piercy was second after closing with a 66, with England's Brian Davis tied sixth after a 67. Scot Russell Knox was tied 13th with Englishmen Paul Casey and Luke Donald tied for 30th and 51st respectively. Victory for Walker was his fourth on the PGA Tour and came a week after he was beaten in a play-off by Patrick Reed at the Tournament of Champions . It took Walker 188 starts to claim his first PGA TOUR title. COBRA TAKES DOWN EAGLES IN SUPER LEAGUE OPENER

​MRSL: COBRA 22 - MERSING EAGLES 12 Cobra got a perfect start in the Malaysia Rugby Super League after beating Mersing Eagles 22-12. Both teams were equally strong in the first half until Mersing Eagles took the advantage with a try from Mohd Azran Abu Bakar . Downed with 5-0, Cobra returned for the second half with a more organized display. It did not take long as Mohd Hafiizh Zainal equalised for Cobra four minutes after the restart. Coach Wan Norsyahmi changed his team strategy after the frustrating half. Vatimio Rabebe gave Cobra the lead with a try in the 63rd minute and Zahangir Khan Majith made no mistake for the conversion. ​The Eagles did not give up. MRSL: RMAF BLACKHAWK 22 - SSTMI TSUNAMI 15 RMAF Blackhawk had a good start in their 2015 Super League campaign after winning 22-12 over SSTMI Tsunami on Saturday. SSTMI showed good determinations before going down to the NICC finalist at the UPM Field. Blackhawks were stunned first with a quick try by Muhammad Faizal Md Tahir just two minutes into the game. However, RMAF were back into the game ten minutes later from Ridzhuan Noh 's try. They took over the lead after Azizan Abdul sent the ball in for conversion. ​SSTMI Tsunami was ahead again in 28th minute when Muhammad Faizal scored a penalty. ​Selangor will find it tough to contest for silverware in the new M League season. Despite being known as the Red Giants, the Klang Valley outfit will be under strength after losing many important players. Top scorer Paulo Rangel has left for Terengganu, while S.Kunanlan and Farizal Marlias had signed up with Super League champions, JDT. Head coach, Mehmet Durakovic realized the difficulties to bring up the team back to their best. He is also unsure about Selangor chances in the new season, but will give his best to develop the available talents into a tough contender. RONALDO WINS FIFA BALLON D'OR FOR THIRD TIME

​​Cristiano Ronaldo won the FIFA Player of the Year award for the second straight year on Monday and third time overall. The Portuguese forward, who led Real Madrid to its record 10th European title, received 37.66 percent of votes of national team coaches and captains and selected media to add to the FIFA awards he won in 2008 and 2013. Ronaldo scored 61 goals last year for club and country, and set a Champions League season record with 17.  Lionel Messi , the Argentine star forward on Barcelona , was second in voting with 15.76 percent, just ahead of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (15.72), who helped Germany to the World Cup title. PATRICK REED COMPLETES COMEBACK TO CLAIM HYUNDAI TITLE

​Four shots behind with four holes to play, Patrick Reed made two birdies and holed out from 80 yards for an eagle Monday, and then closed out his unlikely rally by making an 18-foot birdie putt to beat Jimmy Walker in a playoff at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions . The PGA Tour started a new year without a host of big names, but got a compelling finish at Kapalua. Reed charged back into the picture with his eagle on the 16th hole, a shot that spun back toward the hole and hit the pin before dropping. After three-putting from 100 feet just off the green for bogey on the 17th, he two-putted from 80 feet for birdie on the par-5 closing hole for a 6-under 67. In the playoff, Walker had the advantage when Reed couldn't come close to reaching the green. Walker, however, hit it well right into the rough, and this time the chip came out hot and went over the green. He chipped to 6 feet and never had to putt. TWELVE TEAMS READY TO COMPETE IN RUGBY SUPER LEAGUE 2015

The new season of Malaysia Rugby Super League (MRSL) is expected to be more entertaining than the previous editions. Malaysia Rugby Union (MRU) has confirmed that twelve teams will be participating in this year's tournament. The tournament will kick-off on Saturday, 17 January 2015 at the UPM Rugby Field. ​The involvement of Al-Ikhsan as sponsor of the national team may help to improve the standard of Malaysian rugby. The tournament will also be supported by Clixter and Canterbury rugby ball has been confirmed as the official match balls. MRSL 2015 will start with preliminary rounds where all participating teams are divided into two groups. SULLIVAN BEATS SCHWARTZEL TO CLAIM SOUTH AFRICAN OPEN

​England's Andy Sullivan won his first European Tour title on Sunday after home favourite Charl Schwartzel suffered a dramatic collapse in the South African Open . Schwartzel took a five-shot lead into the final round at Glendower Golf Club in his native Johannesburg and, despite an error-strewn display, still led by four with five holes to play. However, the former Masters champion then failed to get up and down from a plugged lie in a greenside bunker on the 14th and three-putted the 16th to run up a double-bogey six, before a dreadful tee shot on the 17th led to another bogey and left him tied with Sullivan on 11 under par. The players returned to the 18th for a sudden-death play-off and, after both had missed the fairway, Sullivan produced a stunning recovery from the trees and holed from 10 feet for a winning birdie. STEVEN GERRARD TO LEAVE LIVERPOOL

​Steven Gerrard has confirmed what many Liverpool fans had never thought possible - he will leave Liverpool at the end of this season. The 34-year-old former England captain is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and he has taken the difficult and emotional decision not to renew terms. The Liverpool captain, who made his Liverpool debut in 1998, will not move to another English club. Gerrard, born in the Merseyside village of Whiston, joined Liverpool's academy when he was nine years old, making his first-team debut as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers in November 1998. He replaced Sami Hyypia as club captain in October 2003 and led the club to the Champions League title in 2005, scoring his side's first goal as they came from three down to draw 3-3 against AC Milan and then win on penalties. Wayne Rooney has been voted England player of the year after topping a poll of Three Lions fans. Although he failed to inspire England to success at the World Cup , 2014 was a momentous year for Rooney individually. The 29-year-old scored eight goals in 13 appearances and was named England captain following Steven Gerrard's retirement from international football. The Manchester United skipper also earned his 100th cap and moved to within three goals of Sir Bobby Charlton 's all-time scoring record. Rooney took 27 per cent of the votes from an online poll of supporters club members, more than second-placed Danny Welbeck (11 per cent) and third-placed Raheem Sterling (seven per cent) combined. The club will be playing in the Malaysia Super League and the FA Cup this season but also looking forward to excel in the Malaysia Cup tournament towards the end of the season.
