EAGLES RUGBY CLUB CAPTURE LABUAN 10'S TITLE

Eagles Rugby Club proved that they are the current rugby powerhouse in East Malaysia as they won the 2017 Labuan 10's Rugby Tournament . They showed class as they beat local team, Labuan Victoria Rugby Club 14-5 in the Mens Open final. The Eagles were in the final after they won their semifinal clash against SDRU Sibu . Melaka Juniors retained the Labuan 10's Under-16 title which they won it last year. They hammered SMA Al-Attas 19-5 in the final to clinch their second consecutive victory in Labuan.  The Melaka Juniors cruised into the final after beating SMK Tun Said A 31-0 in the last four. 54 teams took part in the 17th edition of the Labuan 10's Rugby carnival this year. tigerssupersports.com

SOWRC ANGELS, OSCA LEGENDS WIN IN LABUAN

2016 champions, SOWRC Angels beat Lady Sharks 15-0 to claim Labuan 10's womens title. The Angels displayed a brilliant performance to retain the title which they have won in 2016. Letto Rhinos Miri beat Tungku Titans 20-5 to claim the Plate title, and Keningau Pigeons hammered Labuan Islanders for the Bowl.  OSCA Legends beat defending champions, Brunei Bastidos 21-12 in the cup final to win the Labuan 10's Veterans' title. In the Plate final, KRFC Blackcatz beat Saborc Goldstar beat 21-5. Crusties Sports edged Sandakan Oldboys 21-19 to clinch the Bowls title. PSD LRA Warriors A clinched the first Girls Under-16 title at the Labuan 10's Rugby Carnival after edging KV Labuan 15-10 in the final. KATAOKA CLAIMS MAIDEN ASIAN TOUR TITLE AT THE ASIA-PACIFIC DIAMOND CUP

Japan's Daisuke Kataoka birdied three of his last five holes for a closing one-under-par 70 to win his first Asian Tour title by two shots at the Asia-Pacific Diamond Cup on Sunday. Kataoka, who started the round one shot back, held his nerve to defeat his playing partners and overnight leaders Poom Sakansin of Thailand and countryman Tadahiro Takayama with a winning total of 12-under-par 272 at the Caledonian Golf Club . Poom moved four clear after sinking two birdies in his opening eight holes but a costly triple-bogey seven on the ninth saw his lead reduced to one. The 24-year-old Thai slipped further with bogeys on 12 and 15 but he gained a shot back on 17 to sign for an eventual 73. Poom settled for a share of second place with Takayama, who also returned with a 73 after marking his card with three birdies against five bogeys, at the ¥?150 million (approximately US$1.37 million) event. O’TOOLE COMPLETES STUNNING VICTORY AT PGM EURASIA SABAH CHAMPIONSHIP

John Michael O'Toole of the United States completed a convincing 12-shot victory at the PGM EurAsia Sabah Championship after closing with a two-under-par 70 on Saturday. With a winning total of 15-under-par 273, O'Toole equalled the biggest winning margin on the ADT but it will not be a formal record as the preferred lies ruling was in play. Natthapong Niyomchon of Thailand settled for second place following a 69 while Amir Nazrin of Malaysia, Panuwat Muenlek of Thailand, Nattawat Suvajanakorn and John Catlin of the United States shared third place. LABUAN RUGBY CARNIVAL IS BACK

The 17th edition of Labuan Rugby Carnival will kick-off on Saturday. A total of 54 teams from all over South East Asia have confirmed their participation at the biggest rugby carnival in Borneo. Labuan is ready to welcome more than 2000 rugby enthusiasts this weekend. Started in the year 2001, the Labuan 10's Rugby Carnival have became the tournament every rugby player wants to play. The tournament which is held in the beautiful Labuan island, is the tournament to attend for every rugby fraternity. There are five categories this year. Mens Club, Womens Club, Veterans, Boys Under 16 and Girls Under 16. Defending champions in mens category, OSCA Warriors will be back to defend the title. SOWRC Angels, Brunei Bastidos and Melaka Juniors are also expected to be at the Labuan Square to defend the Womens, Veterans and Boys U16 titles respectively. It was a belated birthday celebration for Natasha Andrea Oon today, as the teenager outshone all of her compatriots to win the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia National Qualifying Tournament at TPC Kuala Lumpur. The youngster, who celebrated her sixteenth birthday ten days ago, shot a second consecutive 1-under par 70 on the East Course of TPC Kuala Lumpur to win the Open category of the National Qualifying Tournament. Six birdies and five bogeys were enough to leave her one shot clear of second placed Renuka Suksukont of Thailand. But it was to be Oon's day and there is no denying the class of the player, who could technically have qualified through both the Malaysian National and Junior Amateur categories.  Said Oon: "I felt my performance was similar to yesterday's – a lot of back and forth. KELANTAN, KEDAH CLAIM HONOURS AT NATIONAL SEVENS

Kelantan won the Malaysia National Sevens Rugby Championship after defeating Perak 19-14 in the final on Sunday. The 2014 & 2015 winner lifted the Ung Kek Cheow Cup again at the Ipoh Padang. Kelantan went into the final as favourite with five players from the golden SEA Games squad are in the their line-ups. They stunned the home side with an incredible 19-0 advantage in the first half. Perak came back stronger after the break and scored 14 points before losing the final with just 5 points difference. Kelantan reached the final after beating Kedah 26-5 in the semis, while Perak hammered Sabah 26-0 in the last four. Kedah beat Sabah 28-17 to claim the third place finish. In the women category, Kedah became the National Sevens Champions after winning all their final round matches. They beat Selangor 12-10, Sabah 15-5 and Terengganu 15-12. LEE MAKES DYNAMIC COMEBACK WITH WIN AT SHINHAN DONGHAE OPEN

Canada's Richard T. Lee completed his remarkable comeback from injuries by overcoming a two-shot deficit to win the Shinhan Donghae Open by one shot on Sunday. Lee's final round of five-under-par 66 was enough to see him lift his second Asian Tour title at the expense of Malaysia's Gavin Green , who was left to settle for second place after he had started the day with the lead. Lee's career had appeared in a freefall with his Asian Tour card seemingly lost after he suffered from a dislocated shoulder and muscle spasm and was left without a win for three years. But his resolve to win again saw him return to Korea early to practice where he played on the Bear's Best Cheongna Golf Club for at least six times before the tournament got underway. FITZPATRICK SAVOURS PLAY-OFF TRIUMPH AT THE OMEGA EUROPEAN MASTERS

Young talent Matthew Fitzpatrick of England lifted his fourth professional title after prevailing on the third extra hole in a two-way play-off against Australian Scott Hend at the Omega European Masters on Sunday. The 23-year-old Fitzpatrick marked his best efforts of the week when he fired eight birdies against two bogeys to close with a six-under-par 64, forcing extra time with Hend, who signed for a 68, after the duo were tied on 14-under-par 266 total in regulation play.   Both of them parred the first extra hole after returning to the par-four 18 at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club . Hend, who had held the lead since the opening round, missed a 10-footer birdie chance to settle for a second straight par alongside the young Englishman on the second extra hole.
