TWO MALAYSIANS AT INTERNATIONAL YOUNG SPORTS REPORTERS TRAINING CAMP

Suffi Sahar and Amir Hazree from Tigers Super Sports (TSS) were selected to represent Malaysia at the International Young Sports Reporters Training Camp this week. The training camp which is organised by Hong Kong Sports Press Association (HKSPA), are held in Hong Kong and China from 31st March to 10th April 2018. Being members of the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM), the two young photographers were chosen by their agency to join 54 other media personnel from 15 countries.

The camp is part of cultural exchange projects between HKSPA and SAM, which emphasize in training and developing the skills of young talents in journalism. Kwok Ka Ming (FIFA), Brian Ching (Red Bull), Nazvi Careen (SCMP) and Wendy Hon Yuk Ha (TVB Sports World) are some of the experienced people in the media industry, will give lectures and practical trainings to the participants. Both Malaysians will be trained in Rugby, Golf, Football, Lacrosse, Cricket, 2020 Olympics new event, Sports Climbing. The highlight of the training camp will be the chance to cover Hong Kong Sevens 2018, the most prestigious World Rugby Sevens Series in Hong Kong.

TSS Senior Photographer, Azley Kassim said that the selection of Suffi and Amir is in line with the agency's objectives to improvise their skills and knowledge. "Both of them have shown good commitments to the agency and deserved to be rewarded with top class training', he added. Sports writer, Mohamad Firdaus Md Yatim also believes that the exposure given will help them to better understand the news industry and broaden their ideas.

The 2018 International Young Sports Reporters Training Camp was opened by HSKPA Chairman, Patrick Li Hon Yuen at Nansha Marina Club in Guangzhou, China. President of Macau Sports Association, Nicholas Fong and HSKPA Vice President, Pui Kwan Ki were also present at the opening ceremony. The training camp is sponsored by Macau Fok Ying Tung Foundation, supported by Hong Kong Sports Institute, Hong Kong Rugby Union, Hong Kong Lacrosse Association, Hong Kong Cricket Association, E-Sports Association of Hong Kong, Chu Hai College, Hong Kong Disneyland, Canon, Red Bull and Just Climb. HSKPA hope to see more participants from all over the world to attend the training camp in the future.
