FRANCE CLAIM FIRST OLYMPIC GOLD IN STYLE

France won their first gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in the most incredible style. In the men's rugby sevens final, they defeated the two-time Olympic winners, Fiji, 28–7. Fiji won gold in 2016, and did it again in 2020 and were unbeaten in 17 games of Olympic competition.

Antoine Dupont was simply inspirational as France claimed their first Olympics gold medal in rugby at the Stade de France. The Olympic gold medal is the latest addition to his Six Nations title with France 15s, two European Rugby Champions Cups, and four Top 14 victories with club Toulouse. The 27-year-old is now widely regarded as one of the country’s best ever athletes.

South Africa bagged the men's rugby sevens bronze after some late scare. The Blitzboks were tied 19-19 with Australia before Shaun Williams makes the winning run.
