SABAH SECURE FINAL BERTH AFTER BEATING KELANTAN

AGONG'S CUP: SABAH 26 - KELANTAN 24

Sabah confirmed their spot in the final of the 2014 Agong's Cup after recording a 26-24 victory over Kelantan in their semifinal match yesterday. The 2012 Champions, Kelantan gave Sabah a good fight before going down in the very tight semi final match.

Sabah launched continuous attacks towards Kelantan from the start. Kelantan was a little clumsy to concede 2 penalties in 5 minutes, where Orene Aii scored both in the 7th and 11th minutes.

Kelantan was back in the game in the 22nd minute as Muhammad Nazreen Fitri scored a penalty. That penalty somehow builds some confidence among the Kelantan players. Kelantan took over the lead with a try two minutes before the break. Muhammad Nazreen completed the conversion to give Kelantan 10-6 lead at half time.

Sabah returned for the second half with a do-or-die mission. They threw everything into the match and reduced the deficit from another penalty taken by Orene Aii.

Anwarul Hafiz Ahmad gave Kelantan another chance when he tried in the 60th minute. Kelantan snatched another try by Zulkiflee Azmi seven minutes later.

But for Sabah, it was not over until it is really over. They sneaked in for one more try in the last two minutes through Marc Le. Jonathan V. Tan took the conversion perfectly to give Sabah the victory and a date in the final with Terengganu on October 11th.
