THAILAND WOMEN CLAIM GOLD IN SEA GAMES WOMEN RUGBY

Thailand women's rugby team underlined their supremacy over Singapore by beating them 17-10 in the SEA Games final at Kelana Jaya Stadium on Sunday. It was a rematch of the 2015 final, but Thai's women proved that they are a class above the rest of South East Asia teams. After winning the SEA Sevens in Singapore earlier this year, Thailand were the favourite to retain the gold medal which they have won two years ago in Singapore.

The Thai Women had a great start with a big win over the Philippines in the opening match on the first day. They went on to win all the group matches including their biggest, 49-0 win over Lao. Singapore finished second in the group and set-up a final showdown against the Thais for the prestigious Gold medal. However, the invincible Thailand Women cruised to victory with a 17-10 final score.

It was hearts-breaking endings in the Singapore camp as both their Men and Women teams reached the SEA Games finals, but finished as second best. In the Bronze Medal deciding match, Malaysia beat Philippines 7-5 to claim their first ever medal in Women Rugby.
