JOHOR STUN PERAK IN AGONG'S CUP SEMIFINALS

PIALA AGONG: PERAK 19 - JOHOR 26

Johor stunned defending champions Perak in the Agong's Cup last four to secure a place in the final. The underdog from the south claimed a marvelous 26-19 victory over the 2016's winner at the Gong Badak Stadium on Thursday.

Both team were almost equally good in the first forty minutes. However, a try by Aitui Nissan at the half-hour mark handed Johor the advantage. Wan Mohd Asyraf Norudin made no mistake from the spot to give his team the seven points advantage at the break.

The game became more exciting in the second half. Four minutes after the match resumed, Rusiate Nasove made a try for Perak to reduce the deficit. Johor replied with a try by Mohd Fitri Abdullah in the 48th minute. Muhammad Farid Mohd Fauzi gave Perak another five points in the 58th minute, before Mohd Amir Aswad Mat Saad added two more from the conversion.

A second try by Aitui kept Johor ahead, but Perak stayed close with a converted try by Muhammad Firzuan Hamdan. Mohd Rozaidi Rozan's try five minutes from time sealed the final spot for Johor. It was a heartbreaking end for the defending champions as Johor set-up an interesting finale against Terengganu this Saturday.
