VETTEL CLINCHES FOURTH WORLD TITLE

Sebastian Vettel wins his fourth consecutive world title with victory at the Indian Grand Prix. The German, 26, had a perfect race in his Red Bull's machine to secure his sixth consecutive victory this season and become only the fourth man in history to win four titles.

The victory put him with legends Juan Manuel Fangio, Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher as a four-time champion. Vettel's Red Bull team also won the Formula 1 constructors' championship for the fourth consecutive year.

The triumph keeps Vettel on target to equal the all-time record of nine consecutive F1 race wins. He is six years younger than Schumacher was when he became a four-time champion in 2001 and having good chances of eclipsing his compatriot's record of seven world titles in the coming years.

FIA Formula One Standings (Top 5)

1. Sebastian Vettel (Ger)    322 pts
2. Fernando Alonso (Spa)   207 pts
3. Kimi Raikkonen (Fin)      183 pts
4. Lewis Hamilton (UK)  169 pts
5. Mark Webber (Aus)  148 pts
