UITM LIONS BEAT ISKANDAR RAIDERS IN SUDDEN DEATH

UiTM Lions were dragged into sudden death before claiming their Malaysia Rugby League Premier Division semifinals spot. The Lions were tied 21-all against the tough Iskandar Raiders after regular time before Peceli Davobalavu made the decisive try in sudden-death extra time.

UiTM Lions took the lead after seven minutes through Muhammad Hafiz Zainal Abidin's try and Mohamad Sofian Mohd Kamil's conversion. Iskandar Raiders responded with a try in the 18th minute by Asroy Alhamdu Tengkel Mohd Rizal. Azmi Saruman scored two penalties to give Raiders the lead after the half-hour mark. However, the Lions went into the break with 14-11 advantage after another try by Khairul Imran Kamarudin and conversion by Mohamad Sofian.

Iskandar Raiders doubled their efforts and kept UiTM Lions at bay. A try by Muhammad Afiq Abd Rahman for UiTM Lions and Mohamad Sofian's conversion put them nearer to the last four. However, two tries by Nissan Aitui held the Lions and the match was dragged into extra-time. Peceli turned into the hero of the day as his last run produced the match-winning try for UiTM Lions.
