KERIS CONLAY END SERDANG ANGELS MRL CAMPAIGN

MRL PREMIER QUARTERFINALS
KERIS CONLAY 20 - SERDANG ANGELS 15

Keris Conlay marched into the semifinals of Malaysia Rugby League (MRL) Premier Division after defeating Serdang Angels in a weather interrupted match. It was rated as match of week as both team were finalists in last year's Super League. The officials had to stop the match twice due to lightnings and heavy downpour, but Keris Conlay powered through it to win their quarterfinal clash.

Keris Conlay were quick to take control of the game. Ahmad Syazwan Shuid delivered the first try for Keris Conlay just five minutes after kick-off. Mohd Fairuz Ab Rahman made no mistake from the spot to score the conversion. Then, it was a moment of brilliance in the 8th minute as Mohd Fairuz stunned everyone with a drop goal.

Serdang Angels got a penalty in the 12th minute and Mohamad Syarif Saiful Aazwan Sudin sent it through to break the duck. Keris Conlay went 13-3 up after another penalty scored by Mohd Fairuz in the 20th minute. The Angels were back into the game with two tries and a conversion by Mohamad Syarif and Mohamad Ikwan Akmal Zulkipli. However, Keris Conlay claimed the half time lead as Etonia Vaqa Saukuru got a try in the 35th minute before Mohd Fairuz completed the conversion.

Serdang Angels came on after the break trailing Keris Conlay 15-20. Both team had trouble to play their real game on the damp and muddy pitch. No scores were recorded in the second half, and Keris Conlay survived their quarterfinals test. Keris Conlay will face UiTM Lions in the MRL semifinals.
