MRL PREMIER SEMIFINALS
ASAS RC 35 - MERSING EAGLES 29

ASAS Rugby Club pulled-off an upset in the Malaysia Rugby League (MRL) Premier semifinals as they beat Mersing Eagles 35-29. The Putrajaya based club stunned the crowd in Serdang as they ended the Eagles unbeaten run in the MRL.

Although Mersing Eagles took an early lead through Muhamad Khairul's try after just eight seconds into the game, ASAS players stayed positive and got back into contention. Two tries by Kelevi Rokoua Ketedromo, Luqman Hakim, and a penalty by Luqman put them into the lead. Mersing Eagles replied with a try by Jone Vucukula and conversion by Jahangir Khan. Kelevi broke into the Eagles' try area again two minutes before the break and Luqman handed ASAS RC a steady eight points advantage at halftime.

Mersing Eagles were very impressive right after the match resumed. Two tries by Mohd Farid Sujari, Semi Nakaira, and a conversion by Jone put them ahead just after four minutes. Epeli Vakalalabure and Khairul Amirin Khairul Anuar restored the lead for ASAS RC again but Apolosi Tuiluma Tanda kept the score very close. Three minutes before the end, Abdullah Farhan Aiman Azhar stretched his team advantage to 35-29. It was an amazing performance by the Arsyad Ahmad's team. They finally reached the MRL Premier finale after a stunning season.
