COBRA AIMING FOR A PERFECT SEASON IN 2017

Cobra Rugby Club will start their campaign in the new Malaysia Rugby (MRL) Premier League against Mersing Eagles at the TUDM grounds in Bellamy on Saturday. In their 50th year, Cobra remains one of the best-managed rugby clubs in Malaysia and they are amongst the favourites again this season.

The current squad will be counting on their two national players, Syahir Asyraf Rosli and Amin Jamaludin to lead the team throughout the season. Another seasoned player, Mohd Hafiizh Zainal, has been very instrumental for the team in the past and will continue to contribute his best performances for the team. Ahmad Amirul Zulfiqar also has developed well in the past two seasons and ready to take a more important role in the new season.

On the foreign front, their South African import, Leroy Afrika, is expected to benefit from his previous experience with Cobra last season and will look to add more impact with the current squad. Despite the departure of Fijian Jope Qasenivalu, Cobra's new signing from Japan, Ryoma Kudo, looks ready to provide the squad with a different look and strategy. Overall, it will also depend on their new head coach Jamie Barnwell, together with his assistant Wan Syahmi Wan Daud, to maximise the potential of the current squad.

Currently, the players have the right attitude and are eager to achieve more in the Premier League. The club last reached the Super League Final in 2015, losing to Keris Conlay. They also finished third in the KL Super Series last December. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, Cobra is hoping for successful challenge and will look to be on the Champions' podium again.
