WU ASHUN CLAIMS 1ST EUROPEAN TOUR TITLE IN SHANGHAI

Wu Ashun claimed the Volvo China Open to become the first Chinese player to win a European Tour event on home soil. The 29 year old shot a closing 71 at Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club to finish on nine under and denied a spirited challenge from England's David Howell

Wu and Howell started the day in a four-way tie for the lead with Li Hao-tong and defending champion Alex Levy. Howell missed an eight foot par putt on the last which would have forced a play-off. Levy, Emiliano Grillo and Prom Meesawat were tied for third on seven under par.
