MERLIMAU POLYTECH BEAT UNIKL FOR SEMIFINAL SPOT

NICC RUGBY: MERLIMAU POLYTECHNIC 13 - UNIKL 0

Merlimau Polytechnic marched the National Inter-Club Rugby Championship (NICC) semifinal after beating UniKL Falcons 13-0 at Putrajaya on Saturday. Merlimau Polytech were on fire from the start and gave no chance to their opponents throughout the match. UniKL defended strongly in the first thirty minutes. But Merlimau Polytech had a better strategy against the tough UniKL players.

Mohd Amir Aswad gave Merlimau Polytech their first points with a try in the 33 minutes. The wet Alamanda pitch did not help UniKL Falcons to find the points they needed. Merlimau Polytech got another try in the 40th through Muhammad Hakim Abu Hasan.

UniKL resumed the second half with 10 points down. Two minutes after the restart, Merlimau Polytech were awarded a penalty and Mohd Amir converted it. The Falcons made six changes in the last 30 minutes but still couldn't get the points. Merlimau Polytech held on tightly and secured a place in the NICC semifinal.
