MALAYSIA CLINCH ASIA RUGBY WOMEN SEVENS TROPHY

Malaysia pulled of a stunning performance to create history by winning the Asia Rugby Women Sevens Trophy. The Malaysian women beat Philippines 10-7 in the final at the Penaga Club, Brunei and earn the promotion into the Asian Rugby Women Sevens Series next year.

After finishing third in the tournament last year, the Malaysian set a target to go one better this year. Nur Zieeyah Jerry and Nurul Azreen Azli scored two tries in the final to help Malaysia win the title. Nurul Azreen was the star of the team after contributing six tries in the two-day tournament.

Malaysia beat Uzbekistan 5-0 in the semifinals to set-up the final showdown against the Philippines, who defeated Guam in the last four. Guam claimed the third place after a 31-12 win over Uzbekistan, while India beat Laos 31-10 in the Plate final.
