JAPAN WIN ASIA RUGBY WOMENS SEVENS SERIES
Japan Women became the 2018 Asia Rugby Womens Sevens Series overall champions after winning the final series in Sri Lanka on Sunday. They beat Hong Kong 31-0 in the Cup Final to complete a successful season for Japan Sevens teams. Yume Okuroda, Chiharu Nakamura, Raichelmiyo Bativakalolo and Riho Kurogi were in great form as they delivered the points in final leg.
The Japan's Women Sevens team started the final leg at the Racecourse Colombo with a 46-0 win over Korea. They maintained the great form to claim another two wins, 31-7 against Hong Kong and 29-0 over Sri Lanka. Kazakhstan gave them a good fight before going down 12-26 in the semifinals.
Hong Kong made it into the final after beating China 17-7 in the last four. China edged Kazakhstan 17-12 to claim the third place. Sri Lanka won the plate after a narrow 7-5 victory over Thailand. The Japan Women team topped the final standings after winning all the three legs of the Sevens Series.
