PERAK LIFT MALAYSIA CUP TITLE AFTER DRAMATIC COMEBACKS

Perak won their eighth Malaysia Cup title to end their 18-year wait, after a dramatic final against Terengganu. The Bos Gaurus beat Terengganu 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out as both team were tied with 3-3 after extra time. Perak goalkeeper Muhammad Hafizul Hakim Khairul Nizam Jothy turned hero for his team as he made two saves in the shoot-out.

Kipre Tchetche scored two goals in the first half for Terengganu after two defensive errors by defender Mohd Idris Ahmad and Muhammad Hafizul. Trailing Terengganu 0-2, Perak came back stronger in the second half. Muhammad Firdaus Sayadi found the net for his team in the 46th minute to take Perak back into the title race. After that, both teams were reduced to playing with 10 men at the Shah Alam Stadium. Brendan Gan finally got the equaliser for Perak after he launched a powerful shot late in the second half to beat Terengganu's goalkeeper.

As the match went into extra-time, Terengganu went ahead again through Mohd Faiz shot in the 96th minute. However, in the very final minute of the match Zonjic accidentally tapped a cross into his own goal to give Perak the equaliser. After two dramatic comebacks in 120 minutes of play, Perak finally destroyed Terengganu's cup dream in the penalty shoot-out.
