PENANG STUN MELAKA UNITED AT HANG JEBAT STADIUM

LIGA SUPER: MELAKA UNITED 2 – PENANG 3

Melaka United Liga Super campaign appears to be in jeopardy after being knocked-down by Penang with 3-2 score at Hang Jebat Stadium, last night. Faiz Subri put Penang in front with a fine finish after collecting a ball from a clumsy safe by Penang goal keeper Mafry Balang in the fifth minutes. Marco Simic put a cheer to the home fans 30 minutes later after the Serbian converted a penalty to tie the score 1-1 in the first half.

Mark Hartman put the visitors back to the front with a deadly volley in the 53rd minutes. Seven minutes later, Faiz Subri had his free kick hitting the crossbar and S. Kumaaharan headed the ball into the net for Penang third goal. Marco Simic reduce the deficit for Melaka United through a penalty in the 89th minutes but it was too late for the home team to make a come back. Melaka United are now in Liga Super relegation zone with just 12 points after 16 matches played.
