MOBITEL EAGLES WIN SRI LANKA SUPER 7'S


Mobitel Eagles won the Sri Lanka Super Sevens despite losing the second leg cup final at the Racecourse Rugby Ground in Colombo on Sunday. Ezy Wolves won the final 26-12, but Mobitel Eagles emerged as the overall champions based on total points collected from the two-legged tournament. The Eagles collected a total of 55 points for winning the first leg in Kandy and runners-up in Colombo, while the Wolves finished second with 43 points from the two legs. Softlogic Warriors and Access Kings share the overall third place as both team completed the championship series with 34 points.

In the Colombo leg, Mobitel Eagles qualified to their second successive final after beating the Etisalat Panthers 33-24 in the semi-finals. Ezy Wolves made it into the final by defeating Cargills Gladiators 17-10 in the last four. Etisalat Panthers edged Cargills Gladiators 22-19 to secure the plate title, while Walkers CML Vipers beat KBSL Dragons 28-17 to claim the Shield.

Navy SC outclassed Army SC 41-5 to win the women category. Kingswood College bagged the school unider-16 category after beating St. Joseph College 7-5 in a thrilling final. Ezy Wolves' Sudarshana Muthuthantri was awarded the most outstanding player of the tournament by the Sri Lanka Rugby.
