KL SARACENS IN LAST FOUR AFTER NARROW WIN OVER KL TIGERS

NICC: KL SARACENS 14 - KL TIGERS 13

KL Saracens defeated the never-say-die KL Tigers in the National Inter Club Championship (NICC) quarterfinal match at Universiti Malaya rugby field on Saturday. The clash between the two Kuala Lumpur's clubs produced a very tight match which saw both teams had the chance to move into the semifinal stage.

Saracens took the lead in just after six minutes when Matthew Cole scored a penalty. Tigers replied with a penalty in the 19th minute through Kurt Stocks. But Cole restored KL Saracens advantage as he scored another penalty right before the break.

The second half started with KL Tigers trailing the Saracens with 3-6. The Tigers equalised with a penalty by Stocks just four minutes after the match resumed. Cheng Conor Gee Kein was quick to respond for KL Saracens with a try in the 51st minute. However, they failed to score for the conversion. KL Tigers did not give up and pressed their opponent to the max. David Magaya made a try in the 63rd minute to keep Tigers' chances alive. Kurt scored the conversion to give Tigers the lead.

Saracens fought back with continuous pressures over KL Tigers. The Tigers held on tightly before they conceded another penalty in the final minute. Matthew Cole made no mistake from the spot to send KL Saracens into the last four. It was a great fighting spirit shown by the KL Tigers, but the Saracens proved that they are stronger to challenge for the title.
