TEXAS OPEN: JIMMY WALKER CLAIMS SECOND WIN OF THE SEASON
Jimmy Walker won his hometown event Sunday to become the first two-time winner this season on the PGA Tour, beating Jordan Spieth by four shots. With a two-under-par 70, Walker won the Texas Open in San Antonio to become the first two-time winner this season on the PGA Tour, beating Jordan Spieth by four strokes, who also closed with a 70.
He made birdie putts of 15 feet at No. 16 and 17 feet at the 17th in a 2-under 70 that left him at 11-under 277 at the TPC San Antonio. Spieth tried his best by making four consecutive birdies before a closing par with the tournament all but finished.
The victory is Walker's second win of the year after a successful title defense at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He also ended a streak of nine consecutive tournaments where the 54-hole leader or co-leader failed to hoist the trophy on Sunday.
