MELAKA EYES STRONG FINISH IN TERENGGANU

The Malaysia National Sevens Rugby Championship 2025 promises fierce competition, and Melaka is ready to rise. With 91 players from seven teams in the Women’s Open and 130 players from ten teams in the Women’s U21, the Terengganu showdown from 25–27 July will showcase the best of Malaysian women’s rugby.

Melaka proudly sends two squads this year. Their Women’s Open team returns for a third time, while their U21 team makes its debut. Leading the charge are key players Maslieya Nur Athirah Masdi, Nur Batrisyia Nadrah Aziz, and Iman Aisyah Ishak in the senior squad, while the U21 team features rising stars Nurul Syafiqah, Nurul Syazliana, and Noor Yusra Thaqifa.

Backed by the tireless efforts of Melaka Rugby Union President Hameed Basheer, Vice President Abdul Halem Berahim, dedicated coach Hainur Shalehin, and team manager Nur Ain Natrah, Melaka has fought hard to assemble two competitive teams from a limited pool of players. They trained hard every weekend despite the odds.

After finishing 10th in 2022 and 7th in 2023, Melaka now targets a Top 5 finish in the Open, and priceless experience for their U21 rookies. This time Melaka is ready with pride, power, and purpose.

BLACKCATZ POUNCE TO VICTORY AT THE SONG KHENG HAI SEVENS

The  Kuching Rugby Football Club  (KRFC) Blackcatz emerged victorious in the highly anticipated  Song Kheng Hai Sevens  rugby tournament, claiming the title after a decisive 26-12 victory over  Asajaya RC  in the Cup Final. The match, held at the Song Kheng Hai ground, showcased the skill and determination of both teams, but the  Blackcatz  proved to be the dominant force throughout the competition. The road to the finals saw KRFC demonstrate their prowess, having secured a commanding 25-0 win against  Mukah Rugby  in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Asajaya A showed remarkable grit as they edged out  WORC  with a narrow 12-10 victory to reach the final. SOUTH AFRICA CELEBRATE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY OVER ARGENTINA

South Africa won the Castle Lager Rugby Championship for the first time in five years. The Springboks beat Argentina at Nelspruit in commanding fashion on Saturday with a 48-7 victory. They were leading 27-7 at the break of a pulsating match. The win was never in doubt for the Springboks. Eben Etzebeth celebrates a new Test record with 128th caps. South Africa had a sublime start in front of a 43578 sold-out crowd in Mbombela Stadium. They broke The Pumas defence in the opening minutes. Two early tries boosted their confidence in the match. Argentina responded with a try by Tomas Albornoz to keep their hope alive. However, South Africa were at their best and wrapped up the match with six more tries.
