SSTMI BEAT KERIS CONLAY FOR SUPER LEAGUE TITLE


RUGBY SUPER LEAGUE: SSTMI 22 – KERIS CONLAY 8

Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School's (SSTMI) finally clinched the Malaysian Rugby Super League title yesterday after they outlasted defending champions Keris Conlay 22-8 in the final yesterday. Runners-up in 2012, SSTMI were in control at the UKM Stadium, notching tries through Wan Izzudin Ismail and a brace from Fijian Nalawa Malakai. Mohamad Syarif Saiful Aazwan converted twice in addition to a penalty.


Keris Conlay's had just one try from national player Muhamad Syabil Laila after Supriyanto Sudyai scored a penalty in the first half. SSTMI lead 10-3 in the first half before wrapping-up the second with 22-8.


Head coach, Wan Ibrahim Wan Chik was very emotional after the game. He was so proud of his players and respects their desire to win the title. It was a great achievement for him and his team. SSTMI qualified to the final after their huge win over Serdang Angels 29-3 in the semi-finals, while Keris Conlay edged Cobra 16-14.
