KELANTAN COMPLETE HATTRICK, SABAH CREATE HISTORY

Kelantan won their third consecutive SUKMA gold in rugby on Sunday. After winning in the previous two editions of the Malaysian Games in 2014 and 2016, the east coast team displayed dominant performance to complete the hattrick.

Kelantan reached the final after beating Negeri Sembilan in the last four. Their opponent, Terengganu beat Wilayah Persekutuan to set-up the mouth watering final.

Muhammad Hasif Sharifuddin put Kelantan in front with a try in the opening minute. Muhammad Azwan Zuwairi Mat Zizi and Shafuan Shaari scored another two tries before Zulmajdi Kama Razali scored two conversions to seal the 19-0 victory.

Negeri Sembilan claimed the Mens Rugby bronze medal after defeating Wilayah Persekutuan 21-14 in the third place play-off. Sabah created history by winning the first ever SUKMA Womens Rugby Gold. They thrashed Selangor 31-0 in the final. Kedah bagged the bronze after a 21-0 win over Johor.
