SWEET VICTORY FOR KORDA AT SIME DARBY LPGA MALAYSIA 2015

Jessica Korda began crying before the last putt even dropped. A month and a half ago she was content simply making the cut in Canada. Sunday, she cruised to a four-shot victory for her fourth career title at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. Golf can change quickly and Korda's weekend rounds of 65-65 were her two best rounds of 2015 and her 18-under-par total was the second lowest in tournament history.

The 22-year-old closing six-under-par 65 at today's final round, played on Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club's East Course, finally delivered the American her long-awaited win after more than a yearlong title drought.

Korda started her finale on 12-under-par and maintained her lead over the chasing pack, firing four birdies on the front nine and three on the back with a bogey on the par-4 11th to amass a four-day total of 18-under-par 266 (69-67-65-65) and receive the winner's cheque of US$ 300,000. Coming in four shots back at 14-under-par, in a three-way tie for second, was the daunting trio comprising World No.2 Lydia Ko, defending champion and World No. 7 Shanshan Feng and World No.3 Stacy Lewis.

With only one top-10 finish to her name this year, coming joint-second at the January-played COATES Golf Championship, the emotionally-charged, hard-fought victory sees Korda notching her first win since May 2014 and join the tournament's honour roll as its sixth champion, and second American after Lexi Thompson (2013). Other former winners include China's Feng (2014) and Koreans Inbee Park (2012), Na Yeon Choi (2011), and Jimin Kang (2010).
