STENSON LIFTS FEDEX CUP AFTER TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP TRIUMPH

Henrik Stenson bagged $11.4m after winning the Tour Championship in Atlanta and secured him the FedEx Cup. The Swede, who led since day one at East Lake, held other challengers at bay by hitting a final round 68 to for 13-under, three shots clear of Jordan Spieth and Steve Stricker.

Stenson was nine shots ahead at the turn on Saturday, saw that lead decreased to just one after 20-year-old Speith ran with seven birdies in 10 holes. But he held his nerve down the stretch to secure the $1.4m first prize for winning the Tour Championship plus the mighty $10m bonus prize for winning the FedEx Cup.

Tiger Woods recorded a 67, his lowest 18 of the week, to finish tied 22nd of the 30-man field. However, it was still enough for the world number one to finish second in the final FedEx Cup standings.

Henrik Stenson becomes the first European to win the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup.
