MALAYSIA SETTLES WITH FIFTH PLACE AT ASIA CUP

WOMEN'S ASIA CUP HOCKEY: MALAYSIA 5 - KAZAKSTAN 1 

Malaysia salvaged some pride after finishing fifth place at the 8th Women's Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur. The tournament host loss to 3rd place India 2-0 in a hard fought match to miss a semi-final berth.

Malaysia opened the scoring against Kazakstan and lead at halftime with a 2-1 score. The Malaysian girls added another 3 goals in the second half to win 5-1 and clinched the fifth place at the tournament.

Malaysia was without first-choice rightback Raja Noorsharina Raja Shabuddin, who suffered a concussion after the match against India. With nothing much to lose, Malaysia coach Mohamed Nasihin Nubli named an attacking line-ups with Siti Nor Amalina and Noraini Abdul Rashid up front.
