MICKELSON CAME FROM BEHIND TO WIN THE OPEN

Phil Mickelson wins British Open, as Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood faded on final day. The 43-year-old American birdied four of the last six holes to win the 2013 Open Championship at Muirfield.

Mickelson finished at 5-under par for the final round and 3-under for the Open. He began the day five shots off the lead before surging ahead with his epic finish. By lifting the Claret Jug for the first time, Mickelson has won five career major championships. Mickelson had previously won The Masters on three occasions and captured the PGA Championship in 2005.

At that point, Lee Westwood was the only golfer still on the course with a chance to match Mickelson. Unfortunately he didn't, bogeying the 16th hole and recording par on the 17th and 18th.
