JOHOR DT LIFT THE MALAYSIA CUP

PIALA MALAYSIA (FINAL)
JOHOR DT 2 - KEDAH 0

Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) has won their first ever Malaysia Cup after beating rival Kedah 2-0 at the Shah Alam Stadium. After winning the Malaysia Super League in August, The Southern Tigers looked more superior as they went on to win the only trophy in the country which they had never won. JDT had only reached the prestigious Malaysia Cup final once prior to 2017 but unlike their loss to Pahang in 2014, there was no denying them the Malaysia Cup this time.

A header by Aidil Zafuan Abd Radzak gave them the lead just two minutes into the match. Kedah had a poor first half but they looked better after the break. Midfielder Baddrol Bakhtiar saw two efforts hit the post but the Red Eagles could not sustain the pressure. There were heated battles all over the pitch but JDT never looked like losing at Shah Alam Stadium. Gonzalo Cabrera doubled the score in the 63rd minute, giving the Southern Tigers a comfortable advantage all the way until the final whistle.
