DAVETA BEAT EAGLES TO WIN COBRA 10'S

Daveta Rugby Club clinched the Cobra 10's title for the second time with ease at the MBPJ Stadium, in Kelana Jaya. The Fijian side cruised to a 26-10 victory in the final to deny defending champions, Borneo Eagles from claiming their fourth Cobra 10's title. Luke Nadurutalo, Rusiate Tawalo, Joseva Kuricuva and Leveni Tani scored four tries, and three successful conversions by Timoci Tavuto and Lemeke Tulele.

Daveta reached the final after beating Singapore Barbarians 26-0 in the quarterfinals, and North Harbour of New Zealand 14-5 in the last four. They bagged USD10,000 (MYR41,925) for the victory.

Borneo Eagles marched into the final after defeating Auckland Varsity Vipers 20-7 in the semifinals. NNK Northlink beat local side, Panthers Blowpipes 24-5 to win the Plate. Charis Wolfpack won the Bowl after edging Western Province 14-10.

Sixteen teams from all over the world took part in the 47th edition of Cobra 10's. The tournament is also known as the Home of Rugby 10's because 10 a-side rugby was first introduced by the Cobra Rugby Club in 1967. The club celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.
