JOHN CATLIN CLOSES IN STYLE AT THE PGM EURASIA PERAK CHAMPIONSHIP

American John Catlin carded a five-under-par 67 to secure his first wire-to-wire victory and second Asian Development Tour (ADT) title, following the final round of the PGM EurAsia Perak Championship on Saturday. The 26-year-old Catlin, who won his maiden ADT title in 2016, traded seven birdies for two bogeys for a winning total of 16-under-par 272 and a seven-stroke triumph over Australian Martin Dive (279) at the RM200,000(approx.US$44,600) ADT event.

Catlin started the round in slow fashion and lost his one stroke lead when he three-putted his first hole and made bogey. He soon found his momentum with two birdies on holes four and five before dropping a shot on the sixth to turn in 36. From then on, he nailed four more birdies on his way home and sealed the deal with a birdie on hole 18. Catlin took home a winner's prize purse of US$8,265 following his victory and propelled him to third place on the ADT Order of Merit. He will take a week off before his next ADT event at the PGM GlobalOne Championship held at Saujana Golf and Country Club in Malaysia.

Both Martin Dive of Australia and Thai Panuwat Muenlek maintained their round three positions at second and third place respectively with their final round 73. Masaru Takahashi of Japan, carded the lowest score of the day with his final round 64 to finish a commendable tied-7th. He now leads the ADT Order of Merit with Pannakorn Uthaipas of Thailand in second place. The PGM EurAsia Perak Championship, jointly sanctioned with the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) tour, is the 17th leg of the ADT schedule and the 10th stop in Malaysia this season.

Bank Muamalat Bullets  edged  KL Tigers  14-12 in the cup final to win the  Dimbulla Phuket International Rugby 11's . MERSING EAGLES EDGE UITM LIONS TO CLAIM MRL THIRD PLACE

MRL PREMIER 3RD/4TH PLACINGS MERSING EAGLES 25 - UITM LIONS 24 Mersing Eagles claimed the third place finishing in the Malaysia Rugby League Premier Division. The Eagles edged the never-say-die UiTM Lions 25-24 at UPM Serdang on Saturday. After losing to ASAS RC in the semifinals, Mersing Eagles showed determination right from the start. They took complete control of the first half leaving UiTM Lions pointless. Three tries by Timoci Vunimoku , Mohd Farid Sujari and Semi Nakaira , plus two conversions by Jahanghir Khan gave the Eagles a strong 19-0 advantage at the break. UiTM Lions were more organized when the match resumed. They made four tries through Mohd Syahimy Abd Aziz , Luqman Nurhakim Hendri Dwisatrya , Mohamad Danial Noor Hamidi , and two conversions by Mohamad Sofian Mohd Kamil and Muhammad Al-Hafiz Effendi Abd Ranie lifted them into contention again. PERAK CLAIM FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

Perak edged PJ City FC to claim their first win in Liga Super this season. However, the maiden victory did not come easy for the Bos Gaurus despite playing at their home ground. PJ City gave a good fight before going down in Ipoh. Perak started well but the strikers could not beat PJ City's solid defence. Then the real opportunity came in the 37th minute when Mohd Nor Hakim was brought down inside the penalty area. Wander Luiz Bitencourt Jr made no mistake from the spot to beat Mohd Muhaimin Mohamad and put his team ahead. The home side got more chances in the second half. Wander Luiz attempt in the 51st minute was saved by Muhaimin. Nor Hakim also failed to find the net with his header in the 74th minute. Safee Sali and Sergio Nascimento also had their chances, but Perak's goalkeeper  Muhammad Hafizul Hakim Khairul Nizam Jothy was at his best.
