PHILIPPINES GRABS RUGBY GOLD AT SEA GAMES

SEA GAMES: PHILIPPINES 24 - MALAYSIA 7

The Philippines men rugby 7s team maintained their unbeaten run to claim the gold medal at the Southeast Asia (SEA) Games. In the final match, the Volcanoes controlled territory from the outset, holding their Malaysian opponents in their own 22-metre area in the opening minutes. They soon made them pay as Patrice Olivier scored from a turnover and then Justin Coveney broke the line and made a long, solo run to the line.

Although Malaysia hits back in the second half with a try out wide through Zulkiflee Azmi, the Philippines shut out the match when with three minutes remaining. A missed Malaysian lineout throw gifted the Philippines space and Harry Morris took advantage of the overlap and sealed gold 24-7.
