COBRA TAKES DOWN EAGLES IN SUPER LEAGUE OPENER

MRSL: COBRA 22 - MERSING EAGLES 12

Cobra got a perfect start in the Malaysia Rugby Super League after beating Mersing Eagles 22-12. Both teams were equally strong in the first half until Mersing Eagles took the advantage with a try from Mohd Azran Abu Bakar.

Downed with 5-0, Cobra returned for the second half with a more organized display. It did not take long as Mohd Hafiizh Zainal equalised for Cobra four minutes after the restart. Coach Wan Norsyahmi changed his team strategy after the frustrating half. Vatimio Rabebe gave Cobra the lead with a try in the 63rd minute and Zahangir Khan Majith made no mistake for the conversion.

The Eagles did not give up. They got a try five minutes later by Joshua Barak Kiniviliame before Abdul Anas Azwal completed the conversion.

Though, Cobra replied with another try by Vatimio again ten minutes from time and Zahangir made it 19-12. Mersing Eagles pushed hard in the last ten minutes but Cobra held them brilliantly. Cobra got a very late penalty and wrapped-up their MRSL opening game with a deserving 22-12 victory.
