MALAYSIA HOCKEY STAR DIES IN ACCIDENT

Malaysia has today lost a great hockey player, Chua Boon Huat, who died in an accident involving his car and a lorry early this morning. The accident occurred on a highway in Kelana Jaya, Selangor. The Fire and Rescue Station was informed about an accident between a car and a water-tank lorry at about 2.40 am.

They found Chua stuck in the wreckage and he died at the scene due to serious head injuries. The versatile player was one of the longest serving hockey players in the country. His death has not only shocked the hockey fans, but also to all the sports fans in Malaysia.

Born in Malacca on 3rd May 1980, Chua capped 330 times for the country, surpassing the appearances made by Nor Saiful Zaini (325) and his best friend S. Kuhan (327). The player made his debut as a 17-year-old in the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games. He has also played at the World Cup, Olympics, Champions Trophy, Asian Games and Asia Cup.
