SOUTH KOREA BEAT MALAYSIA IN ARC 2019 OPENER

South Korea kicked off their Asia Rugby Championship campaign with a 52-14 victory over Malaysia in Incheon. It is a perfect start for the home side as they scored eight tries to earn the bonus point.

Malaysia stunned the crowd at the Namdong Asiad Stadium with an early try through Lawrence Petrus, before Mohd Fairuz Abdul Rahman delivered the conversion. However, South Korea bounced back with three tries by Jihoon You, Seong Min Jang and Myung Jun Lee. The Koreans went into the break with a comfortable 19-7 lead.

South  Korea returned into second half in a fine form. Jinseok Lee and captain Kwanyoung Na scored two more tries to pull their team away from the opponents' reach. Despite the Korean's domination, Malaysia struck back with a good try from winger Wong Wye Wye.

The Malaysian started to show a little improvements after the second try, but South Korea took advantage of the handling errors by the visitors. Yeonsik Jeong, Jeongmin Jang and Jae Bok Lee scored three tries late in the second half to give their team a convincing 52-14 win. Malaysia is playing in their second season in the Asia Top Division, while South Korea is giving their best do better after finishing second to Hong Kong last year. Both team will play in the return leg match at the National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur next Saturday.
