SOUTH KOREA BAG SECOND WIN OVER MALAYSIA IN ARC 2019

South Korea showed their determination to win their first ever Asia Rugby Championship by beating Malaysia 38-16 at the Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. It was quite a frustrating night for the Malaysian team as they fought hard to claim their first win in the Asia Top Division in front of the home fans.

After beating Malaysia in the first match in Incheon last week, the Koreans displayed strong performance to claim full points before facing the defending champions, Hong Kong. South Korea went ahead in the opening ten minutes with two tries by Sungkun Cha and Daeyoung Yang.

But then, Mohd Fairuz Ab. Rahman scored a penalty before a converted try by Amirul Mukminin Amizan levelled the score 10-10. South Korea scored two more tries through Captain Kwanyoung Na and Hyeonseong Shin to take the lead again. Mohd Fairuz scored another penalty to narrow down the score to 24-13 before the break.

In the second half Mohd Fairuz added a third penalty but Namuk Kim and Junhui Lim confrmed the 38-16 win in an enthralling match. It is an important win for the Koreans but the Malaysians showed great improvement in their second season in the Top Division. Both teams will play home and away matches against Hong Kong after a one week break.
