SABAH LIFT THE PRESTIGIOUS AGONG'S CUP AGAIN

Sabah edged Kelantan 47-45 in the final to win their fifth Agong's Cup. It was a very dramatic finale at the UPNM Stadium as Kelantan's went all out to end their their six-year title drought. But Sabah were also determined to win, and they were better than the last edition .

With former All Black player Charles Luke McAlister, vice-captain Nathanael Tan and fly half substitute Fijian Serupepeli Naqasima in the line-up, Sabah got no reason to fail this time. They opened the scoring inside the first minute with a try by Mohamad Safwan Abdullah. However Kelantan bounced back and scored three tries through Mohamad Ikwan Akmal, Zulkiflee Azmi and Wan Azley Wan Omar. The East Coast team took a 24-20 halftime lead.

Sabah came back stronger after the break. Luke played important role in the team's revival. His experience lead his team to overcome their opponents. Three converted tries and two penalties were enough to turn around the score in for Sabah in the final 40 minutes.

It was an emotional victory for Sabah, especially to their head coach, Brad Mika. Their hardwork finally paid-off, and he believed that discipline, attitude and brotherhood pulled his players through against the never-say-die Kelantan team. Sabah have now won the Agong's Cup five times, after victories in 2007, 2009, 2014 and 2015.
