KEDAH LIFT FA CUP IN FIVE GOALS THRILLER

MALAYSIA FA CUP: KEDAH 3 - PAHANG 2

Kedah ended nine years wait to win the their fourth FA Cup after beating 10-man Pahang 3-2 in the final at the Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday. The FA Cup is Kedah's third silverware in seven months after winning the Malaysia Cup in October and the Sultan Ahmad Shah Cup in January.

After a slow start, the Red Eagles suddenly took the lead in the 20th minute when Ken Ilso tapped in Syazwan Zainon's cross. Things turned more difficult for the Elephants after Kiko Insa was sent-off in the 32nd minute following two bookings in the space of seven minutes. Kedah went two-up in the 45th minute as Baddrol Bakhtiar drove in low after receiving a pass across the box from Syazwan. Heo Jae-won gave Pahang a lifeline with a strike just before half-time to reduce the deficit.

Pahang looked the more dangerous from the start of second half, dominating possession and coming close several times in search of an equaliser. However, it was Kedah who found the back of the net again in the 73rd minute as Baddrol made a simple tap-in into Pahang's goal for his second of the night. Pahang pulled one back again in the 80th minute through Mohamadou Sumareh, who headed in Alves' cross. Though, Kedah were already in control to walk away with the FA Cup trophy.
