PORTUGAL BEAT FRANCE IN EXTRA TIME TO WIN EURO 2016
EURO 2016 FINAL: FRANCE 0 - PORTUGAL 1 (aet)
Portugal, the team that finished third in their group, won the EURO 2016 even when their greatest footballer was taken off on a stretcher. They proved that they can play like a team despite critics saying that they are relying on just one man, Cristiano Ronaldo. In the end, Ronaldo had his hands on the trophy even if it was not the way the ultimate showman had intended.
Portugal played all-out throughout the final as the host nation, France continuously put them under pressure. And their hard work paid off in the second period of extra time as Éder scored the decisive goal. After a run of 10 successive defeats to France since 1978, it can be considered as Portugal's greatest ever victory in history.
