TERENGGANU FIGHT BACK TO BEAT NEGERI SEMBILAN

LIGA SUPER: TERENGGANU FC 3 - NEGERI SEMBILAN 2 Terengganu FC remained at fifth position in Liga Super after beating Negeri Sembilan 3-2 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu. Both sides failed to find the net in the first thirty minutes. Kipré Brice Hermann Tchétché finally got the breakthrough for Terengganu in the 32nd minute. Negeri Sembilan responded with more attacking football. Then Nicolaz Velez leveled the score in the 43rd minute for the visitors. Two minutes later, Valez gave Negeri Sembilan the lead with another goal right before the break. Terengganu returned into the second half trailing the visitors with 1-2 score. Kipré found the net again on the 57th minute to put his team back on track. Ten minites later, the Ivory Coast striker completed his hattrick and gave his team the precious three points. PHILIPPINES VOLCANOES CAPTURE ASIA RUGBY DIVISION 1 TITLE

The Philippines beat Singapore for the second time this year to clinch the Asia Rugby Championship Division 1 title. After winning 32-24 in the first match, the Volcanoes continued their fine run to record a 38-12 victory in Calamba, Laguna. They finished third in last year, and it is their first Asia Rugby triumph since 2012. Philippines (56th) is ranked two places below Singapore in the World Rugby standings. After Singapore took the lead through Matthew Humphries 's early try, Steve Pagtalunan Howorth equalised for the home side. Robert Luceno Fogerty scored the conversion, and another two penalties later to give his team a comfortable 13-5 advantage. They went on and scored another try before going into the break with an 18-12 lead. The second half saw the Philippines total domination. Justin Villazor Coveney and Joe Palabay Dawson were also on the scoresheet as the Volcanoes scored another 20 points. The home side also defended well

HARYANA AND ODISHA CLAIM INDIA'S NATIONAL 7'S TITLES

Haryana clinched the India's National Rugby Sevens Championship after defeating Delhi in the final. The defending champions beat their neighbour 14-10 in Chandigarh to retain the title. It was a tight finale where Delhi did not go down easily. After thrashing West Bengal 22-0 in the semifinals, Haryana were in full of confidence as they took the pitch at Punjab University . Delhi beat Maharashtra 17-5 in the last four, gave a good fight before losing in the final. Odisha beat West Bengal 12-0 in the final to become the women's champions. West Bengal defeated Bihar 45-5 in the semifinals, and Odisha edged Maharashtra 15-10 to take the other final spot. 25 mens teams and 21 womens teams took part in the 2018 Societe Generale Senior National Rugby 7s Championship in Chandigarh. MINCHEL CHOI WINS KOLON KOREA OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

Korea's Minchel Choi held off the challenge of compatriot Sanghyun Park by sinking a birdie on the last hole to win the Kolon Korea Open Golf Championship by two shots on Sunday. Walking up the 18 green, Choi knew he could not afford to drop a shot as that would leave the door open for Park to force a three-hole play-off with him at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club . The 30-year-old steadied his nerves and could not contain his delight when he watched his putt from 10-feet drop into the cup. Choi's final round two-under-par 69 not only confirmed him as the newest champion of his National Open but also earned him a ticket to The Open in Carnoustie next month, with the Kolon Korea Open Golf Championship part of The Open Qualifying Series this year. A fast-charging Sanghyun had earlier surmounted a late challenge when he stormed towards the finishing line with two birdies in his last four holes. RUFINO'S HATTRICK GIVES SELANGOR THE ADVANTAGE

MALAYSIA FA CUP: SELANGOR 4 - PKNS FC 0 Selangor took a major step into FA Cup final after hammering PKNS FC 4-0 in their first leg semi-final match.  The Red Giants were at their best in a match which gave K. Rajagobal an impossible mission in the return leg next week. Nazliazmi Nasir had to thank Rufino Segovia who blasted a hattrick, and also involved in the own goal scored by Azmizi Azmi . PKNS were quite organize in the first thirty minutes as Selangor had to rely on counter attacks to find their chances. There were many dangerous moments for the visitors created by Selangor forwards. Rufino finally found the net in the 39th minute before adding his second of the night a minute later. PKNS came back in the second half trailing Selangor with two goals down. Rufino has been a threat to any defenders in Liga Super this season. The Spanish striker completed his hattrick just 11 minutes after the match resumed. PKNS could not find an answer to Rufino

PAHANG STAY CLOSE TO LEAGUE LEADERS

LIGA SUPER: NEGERI SEMBILAN 1 - PAHANG 3 Pahang  beat  Negeri Sembilan  at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi to stay close with  Liga Super  leader,  Johor DT .  The Elephants  beat the host 3-1 where  Issey Nakajima  scored a goal in each half. The Canadian striker opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a screamer to beat Negeri Sembilan goalkeeper. Nakajima got a chance to increase the lead right before the break, but his spot kick was out of target. Pahang had good control of the game after match resumed. Nakajima redeemed his failure with a fine finish in the 65th minute, after receiving a pass from  Norshahrul Idlan Talaha . Norshahrul registered himself on the scoresheet with Pahang's third goal in the 71st minute. Negeri Sembilan did not give-up.  Fauzan Dzulkifli  got a consolation goal with a flying header in the 83rd minute. Pahang is at third place in Liga Super with 27 points from 16 matches, while Negeri Sembilan remained inside the relegati

MELAKA UNITED CLAIM FULL POINTS AGAINST PKNP

LIGA SUPER: PKNP FC 1 - MELAKA UNITED 2 Melaka United  collected three valuable points from their  Liga Super  match against  PKNP FC  on Tuesday. Playing away from home, Melaka bounced back to beat PKNP with a late goal at Perak Stadium. After a goalless first half, PKNP broke the deadlock in 56th minute through  Muhammad Shahrel Fikri' s goal. Melaka reacted positively in search for an equaliser. In the 65th minute,  Lee Chang Hoon  leveled the score for the visitors. As the match looked like going to end with a draw,  Ifedayo Olusegun  turned hero for Melaka United with a goal in the final minute. After playing their 16th matches, Melaka United moved to 7th place in Liga Super with 20 points, while PKNP FC is at 10th place with 17 points. RUGGER DISTRICT
