SOUTH AFRICA CELEBRATE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY OVER ARGENTINA

South Africa won the Castle Lager Rugby Championship for the first time in five years. The Springboks beat Argentina at Nelspruit in commanding fashion on Saturday with a 48-7 victory. They were leading 27-7 at the break of a pulsating match. The win was never in doubt for the Springboks. Eben Etzebeth celebrates a new Test record with 128th caps. South Africa had a sublime start in front of a 43578 sold-out crowd in Mbombela Stadium. They broke The Pumas defence in the opening minutes. Two early tries boosted their confidence in the match. Argentina responded with a try by Tomas Albornoz to keep their hope alive. However, South Africa were at their best and wrapped up the match with six more tries. ASIA RUGBY SEVENS SERIES: HONG KONG AND CHINA CLAIM TOP HONORS IN HANGZHOU

Hong Kong  has once again showcased its rugby prowess in the  Asia Rugby Sevens Series  2024, clinching victory in the final against  Japan  with a score of 24-19. This victory marks their second consecutive triumph in Asia's most prestigious rugby sevens competition. Host  China  beat  Korea  38-0 to claim the third-place finish. Hong Kong continued their good run and remain undefeated in the series this year. After winning all matches on day 1, Hong Kong showed class to win their second consecutive Asia Rugby series at Hangzhou.  Hugo Stiles  was the top point contributor for Hong Kong with 37 points. China beat Korea 38-0 to claim the third place on their own soil.  Changshun Shan  was the star of the series after scoring 42 points for China with 4 tries and 11 conversions. SSTMI STRONG DETERMINATION WINS BANK MUAMALAT MELAKA 10S

Sekolah Sukan Tengku Mahkota Ismail  (SSTMI Tsunami) won the  Melaka International Rugby 10s  after defeating  Muamalat Bullets  19-17 in the Open Cup Final Match. The young  Tsunami  players displayed a great fighting spirit to stun the more experience opponents in a nail-biting finale. Coached by  Syed Shazril Syed Mahadzir  and  Syahir Asraf Rosli , the SSTMI boys showed their class to compete against international players. They beat  KL Tigers  12-0 in the quarterfinals before taming  Muamalat Bazooka  24-10 in the last four. In the veteran category,  Melaka High School Oldboys  beat  SDAR Alumni  12-0 to claim the title.  ASAS Veterans  settled for third after beating  SMSS Oldboys  19-7 in the Plate Final. The Bank Muamalat Melaka International Rugby 10s was held in conjunction with the Malaysia's National Day on 31st August. VIOBA BLUES WIN BACK-TO-BACK KL RUGBY LEAGUE

VIOBA Blues  beat  Mobster RC  29-14 in the final to retain the  Kuala Lumpur Rugby League  title. The defending champions were in complete control to deny their opponent from snatching the championship away. Mobster started the final without a number of key players due to Agong Cup's preparation. VIOBA took full advantage and dominated the final to clinch the back-to-back victories. Rama-rama Conlay  overcame their semifinal setbacks by winning the  Plate Final . FRANCE CLAIM FIRST OLYMPIC GOLD IN STYLE

France  won their first gold medal at the 2024  Paris Olympic Games  in the most incredible style. In the men's rugby sevens final, they defeated the two-time Olympic winners,  Fiji , 28–7. Fiji won gold in 2016, and did it again in 2020 and were unbeaten in 17 games of Olympic competition. Antoine Dupont  was simply inspirational as France claimed their first Olympics gold medal in rugby at the Stade de France. The Olympic gold medal is the latest addition to his Six Nations title with France 15s, two European Rugby Champions Cups, and four Top 14 victories with club Toulouse. The 27-year-old is now widely regarded as one of the country’s best ever athletes. South Africa  bagged the men's rugby sevens bronze after some late scare. ARGENTINA DENIES COLOMBIA IN EXTRA TIME TO LIFT COPA AMÉRICA

  Argentina  won a record 16th  Copa America  title by beating  Colombia  1-0 thanks to an extra-time goal from  Lautaro Martinez .  La Albiceleste 's latest title comes on the back of their triumphs at the 2022  World Cup  and 2021 Copa America. The victory gives eight-times  Ballon d'Or  winner  Lionel Messi  the perfect sendoff in what is likely his last international tournament. The win, which saw Argentina move ahead of  Uruguay  after the pair had been tied on 15 Copa titles, marked  Angel di Maria 's final international match. Martinez, who came off the bench in extra time, latched onto a precise through ball from  Giovani Lo Celso  before lifting his effort over advancing Colombia goalkeeper  Camilo Vargas  in the 112th minute to spark wild celebrations at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. SPAIN BEAT ENGLAND TO BE CROWNED EURO 2024 CHAMPIONS

Spain  are crowned  Euro 2024  winners after a pulsating 2-1 victory over  England  at Olympiastadion in Berlin. This marks an unprecedented fourth European championship for  La Roja , and they were undoubtedly the best team in the tournament. Spain displayed beautiful­passing, outstanding wing play and ruthless finishing to clinch the biggest footbal prize in Europe. Spain broke the deadlock in the 47th minute through  Nico Williams  first time finishing.  Cole Palmer  equalised for the  Three Lions  in the 73rd minute.  Mikel Oyarzabal 's goal four minutes from time sealed the victory for La Roja.
