FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO SELANGOR TOP DIVISION

Some rugby clubs are built for a season. Others are built for generations.

For Rhinoz Warriors, the journey has been 23 years in the making. It all began when STJ Oldboys Warriors entered the Selangor Rugby League, laying the foundation for a club driven by passion, commitment and an unwavering love for the game. In 2016, the club entered a new era by merging with Rhinoz King Selayang Rugby Club, forming Rhinoz Warriors.

In a sporting landscape where many clubs fade away, Rhinoz Warriors have continued to grow stronger. Their longevity is a testament to the dedication of countless players, coaches, volunteers and supporters who refused to let the dream die.

The past two seasons have marked the club's rise. In 2024, Rhinoz Warriors celebrated their first major silverware by winning the Selangor Rugby Plate while finishing runners-up in Selangor Rugby Division 2. Instead of settling for second best, they came back even stronger in 2025, capturing the Selangor Rugby Division 2 championship and securing a historic promotion to Division 1.


Now, the club stands on the biggest stage in its history.

Rhinoz Warriors will make their Selangor Top Division debut on 9 August, and Club President Musli Mat Isa has reshaped the organisation for the challenge ahead. Championship-winning Head Coach Dharma Kamis now takes on the role of Technical Director, while Ariff Ramly has been entrusted as the club's new Head Coach. Together with Team Manager Saifullah Jamaluddin, they will lead a squad determined to compete with Selangor's best.

The club's long-term vision is equally impressive. The appointment of Ahmad Azlan Shamsuddin as General Manager reflects Rhinoz Warriors' ambition to become a stronger and more sustainable organisation. Assistant Team Manager Ilyas Saufee and Caretaker Farhan Azizi further strengthen the club's growing management structure.

On the field, experienced campaigners Aiman Azlin, Haziq Sawal, Megat Emir, Qamarul Irfan and Michael Manoharan remain key figures, while exciting talents Ikhwan Ahmat, Qayyum Iman, Syahmi Farhan and Yasriq Yahya are expected to shine. The return of Rahman Aiman from SMS Oldboys and Amirul Hakim from the Hurricanes adds valuable depth ahead of the new campaign.


Rhinoz Warriors have also become a benchmark off the field. Officially registered under the Registrar of Societies since 2015, they are the first rugby club in Malaysia to be registered under the Ministry of Finance, enabling corporate sponsors to enjoy tax relief for their contributions.

From humble beginnings to Division 1, Rhinoz Warriors have proven that success is built on resilience, unity and vision. Their promotion is not the end of the story. It is the start of an exciting new chapter, with a club ready to challenge the very best and inspire the next generation of Malaysian rugby.

VIOBA BLUES Vioba Blues etched their name deeper into Kuala Lumpur rugby folklore by clinching a third consecutive KLR League title, completing another dominant and unbeaten campaign in the KLR League 2025, the annual rugby championship organised by the Kuala Lumpur Rugby Union .
