MALAYSIA CREATES NEW WORLD RECORD WITH WIN OVER CAMBODIA

SEA Games 2013: Malaysia 36 - Cambodia 0

The Malaysian women's hockey team were in full power when they crushed Cambodia 36-0 for their second win in 2013 SEA Games at the Thein Phyu Stadium in Yangon yesterday. It is also believed that the full time score is a new world hockey record.

According to planetfieldhockey.com, the previous world record of biggest score margin was recorded in Santiago, Chile, on March 23, 2003 when Argentina defeated Peru 26-0 at the South American Women's Championships.

At average, the Malaysians scored a goal in less than every 2 minutes yesterday. Noor Hasliza Ali was the top scorer for the team side with six goals, while Nuraini Abdul Rashid and Fazillah Silin both contributed five goals each in the rout.

Norbaili Hashim and Norazlin Sumantri both sounded the board four times, while Rabiatul Mohamed, Norhidayah Ahmad Bokhari and skipper Nadia Abdul Rahman netted a brace each and Norashikin Halim, Nurul Nabila Mansur, Raja Norshabuddin, Siti Nor Amarina, and Surizan Awang Noh all contributed a goal each.

Cambodia also scored an own goal to help Malaysia on their way to the huge win. It was a second heavy loss for the Cambodians, who had gone down 0-26 to Thailand in their opening match on Friday.
