TEN MAN SELANGOR SHOCKED JDT ALL STAR

Malaysia Super League: Selangor 4 - Johor Darul Takzim 1

Irfan Bakti's men welcomed Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and convincingly beat them 4-1 to knock them off the top of the Malaysian Super League table. Selangor began very positively, which was instantaneously rewarded with a goal from a stunning 4th minute cross-cum-lob from S. Kunanlan.

The Red Giants were later under pressure by JDT's offensive approach, but they responded with some dangerous counter-attacks. And they scored a second goal from a counter attack in the 32nd minute. Mahali laid a pass to K. Soley who proceeded to send a low cross to Francis Doe who then stabbed it home for their second goal.

Selangor held on until the half-time whistle and they went into the changing room with a 2 goals lead. However, after the break Selangor were down with 10 men after their new import Peter Chrappan, who was making his home debut collected a second yellow card.

Mahali was pulled back to cover the hole left by Chrappan but refused to just perform defensive duties, and kept going up during attacks. He found the net in an audacious fashion, by dribbling past three defenders, before releasing a shot into the far corner to make it three for the Red Giants.

Selangor, by then, looked as if they had completely forgotten that they were playing with only 10 men and it was proven by their fourth goal two minutes later. Doe again held the ball near the left corner of Darul Takzim's penalty box to draw two defenders in, before releasing the ball to the middle for the lightly-marked Amri Yahyah to calmly slot into the right corner.

The match then wound down, but not before Darul Takzim managed to sneak in a consolation goal in the 75th minute through a Nor Shahrul Idlan Talaha near-post shot which went in off a slight deflection from a Selangor defender.
